We switched to Vonage world plan from our cable phone. It's $25.99/month after 3 months at $9.99/month. The Philippines is 9cents a minute to landline or mobile. This gives us tracking and records and even an extension to a mobile phone which my wife uses to call home and friends with. No calling cards etc. This includes unlimited calls to many countries and the US included in the 25.99 month. Best of luck with your quest.

I use PennyTalk. It is not a phone plan, but a long distance calling that you sign up for. I think it is $.99 a month and you add funds to your acct. If you set up the number you are calling as a favorite, you get a 20% discount. So for me, Canada is a penny a minute then i get an additional 20% off. I looked up Philippines and it says .13 for landline and .19 for mobile phones. I have a record of all the calls i make to him and how long the calls lasted that I can print off every month.

Magic Jack is the best,.. You pay a renewal annually, which is around $20 I think or $30...

Forgot the last time I paid for it,..

But it is definitely the best, no monthly or hidden charges whatsoever....

Talk all you want,.. There's no limit,..

Magic jack is only going to work if they have decent and continuously on internet. They didn't where my wife lived and where her family still lives. I found our best option was a long distance card she got through Globe. For 100P she could call me for 40 minutes. Now that she's here, we use myblack011 to call there. For $5 we get 40 minutes there. Its a pinless system where your phone number is registered, we have both our phones set up on one plan. I periodically throw $20 on it and she calls when she wants to. I've never really looked into getting the logs from the myblack011, but I believe it you can get them from online. With her calling me using the Globe cards, I used the incoming call records on my cell phone.

I had a magic jack and tried the new magic jack plus but they sucked so I returned them. I use google voice in conjunction with an OBI 110, google voice is free, the OBI you can buy on Amazon or a few other place, you do need internet for this setup and the modem or a router to plug a CAT 5 cable in (no computer needed). With this you can call totally free to those you gave an OBI or any phone in the USA or Canada. I have one at home that I have plugged into the phone jack in my house so all my phone work, and I brought one to the Phils with me and left it there. You don't need one stateside to call out, but they work so great, calls are free and voice quality is excellent so why would not. My magic jack now sits in a box not being used, the OBI is that much clearer and extremely easy to setup. You couldn't pay me to go back to a Magic Jack (Plus).

And yes you have a record of calls on google voice.

Magic Jack is one of the best with good internet service( fairly fast) and without browsing while on a call.

Also u can open a gmail account in the US download http://www.google.com/chat/voice/ just need to adjust settings u can have a local U.S number, voicemail, incoming calls ring, and text up to 46 msgs a day FOR FREE :) You do not need to buy credit since this only applies to international numbers and you can actually get a US to US number... all you have to do it's set it from the US and the person in Phillipines just needs to download the plug in which it can be done even from an internet cafe and a good set of headphones :)

I Hope u can appreciate the pic since it does not allow me to do it bigger.

magic jack users,,???? can you print out records of who you call?

With Magic Jack you can access your account online to print history (can print them often since they will erase every so often by new calls... That is what happened to me since we were always calling each other)u can also set up an email where you can receive an email telling you a particular number just called you, also receive emails with voice messages (voicemails)

Call quality is much better with the OBI and google voice, and its free aside from buying the OBI 110. I took an OBI with me to the Phils already setup with an AZ phone number so all the calls to the Phils are local calls. Even with DSL (in the Phils) the call quality is very good, which it isn't with Magic Jack.

What am I missing as why not use Skype to Skype in the event you use Magic Jack (as I use to) and Vonage? They all take internet. I chat daily with my fiancee using skype but due to her usb internet being a bit slow we use cam to cam on YM. YM does not come in as plain as Skype on verbal... I can print our conversation on both. Which I need to start doing again... Thanks for the post as you reminded me lol. I know in penney talk you can call phone to phone so if this is what you want then that may be your best option.
