Question about Police report for K1

I am new here. My Fiance (American) and I (African - naturalized Italian) have only now sent out the petition and from what we have read so far here, it would seem we have some waiting to do. However, we are also trying to stay prepared every step of the way which brings me to my question regarding the police certificate. Does any one have any idea if a police report requested in one's absence will be accepted by the consulate? I would require one from Africa and I am not sure if requesting a copy be mailed or faxed to me without having to travel there for it will be acceptable? I have had one issued years ago when I was applying for my Italian citizenship, and now I am required to present one for this K1 visa. My fiance and I had wondered if maybe having had one issued by the Italian police was enough, since obviously to have Italian citizenship meant having already provided (to the Italian authorities) proof of clearance. But we thought to be on the safe side and request one from Africa for this as well. Our only concern is if requesting for one without having to go to Africa for it can disqualify it. Does anyone know? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Did you reside there 6 months or more as an adult? Then you need police report. Mail is fine, it is the same document.

My husband had to get one from a country he no longer lives in. It was mailed to him. As long as it is an original copy you will be fine. Good luck on your journey :)

You can ask to have your police certificates posted to you, be careful and do no request it too early, some are only valid 6-12 months and therefore may expire before requested ; this is similar with the medical.
