Come To The Interview With Fiancee

Today is the 88th day since I sent my I-129F application.

This is my plan, please provide any advices that you think might help us prepare for a successful interview. I am hoping and having high expectation that I can bring my fiancee over by December of this year, get married and at that time, I have more than a week off from work to show her around and to be with her for celebration.

so here is my plan.

When I receive my NOA2, which is around the end of July or early August. I will take a copy of all the documents I-129F that i sent 88 days ago to Vietnam and give it to my fiancee. I will aslo sit down with her to help her fill out what ever paper work or any steps that we need to do after NOA2. In addition to bringing the paper work to her, we will also have our engagement ceremony. The time for this trip is 2 weeks.

I will go back to the U.S. after the engagement ceremony and continue to discuss about the preparation for the interview with her. I am assuming by November, she'll get appointment for the interview then I'll make another trip to Vietnam to be with her before and during the interview if having me there helps.

If she gets the pink, we'll be so so happy. I will spend 1 week with her there in Vietnam to be with her family and my relatives. I'll buy some stuff that she wants to bring to the U.S., we'll travel to a few places to celebrate and for her to say good bye to her hometown. I will then book a ticket for her so that we'll fly together to the U.S. The time for this trip will be 2 weeks.

I took a gamble and only made 2 trips. If I had more time I would of went a 3rd time for her interview. On the contrary my fiancee did prepare for interview , put her in a hotel 5 weeks prior where she got prepped by our lawyer and his office girls. She had an hour long interview with tough questions that the Co made her explain in depth. Because of our language barrier she would of never passed without the prep or her determination to study and know everything about me and where she was going to live. Maybe your fiancee's English is good.

Take all these VJ's advice and go back for her interview it might help your odds. Best of Luck.

As a basic rule you want to avoid being asked any questions in person. The risk of you inadvertently saying something or your body language being misread is to great. Once they get the idea that something is not right you may find that you are trying to defend your self.

But I am sure someone can give you more specific advice for Vietnam.

Yea i dont know what kinda basic rules there are, but USC who goes to the interview with there fiance will def. benefit from it. It helps ease the tension and make the finace less nervous. Plus it show that the relationship is sincere and not bogus if the guy (or girl) came all the way across the world to show his love and support. I am in the Philippines right now and plan on going to my fiances interview with her. Hell I might even wear a suit. Good Luck brother and god bless

I am leaving this Sunday to go to Guangzhou. My fiancee and her son will have their interview on Wednesday. I am going to provide moral support and to deliver to her required documents and relationship evidence she will need for the interview. We are a team and team members support each other.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Hi,

About your questions

1. Should I make a trip to Vietnam and come to the interview with my fiancee?

That's the best thing that you can do, I did it with my fiancee my wife now at USEM with a great result.

2. If I come to the interview, would they interview me also?

Of course the most difficult questions will be for you, if you know her that much that will be easy.

3. Do you get higher chance of approval if you come to the interview with your fiancee?

I can say yes to it, because that shows that you are very commited to her.

earlier post K1 visa got dined, even both fiance's attend the interview,so it's not matter

That is only one person...and every case is different. perhaps the CO did not think they had a bona fide relationship, there could have been many reasons. I think the majority of people here will tell you it's a good idea if you can attend the interview!!! Charlie you have made a few comments that just do not make sense. In the very least it shows moral support for you SO. And if you love you fiance/spouse why would body language be an issue, and as long as you are honest what could you say that could be wrong? Please don't scare this OP needlessly.

Hi All,

Would you please share your knowledge or provide the answers to some of these questions regarding the interview.

1. Should I make a trip to Vietnam and come to the interview with my fiancee?

Yes, if you have time and financial resources.

2. If I come to the interview, would they interview me also?

Maybe, a potential chance to prove your love.

3. Do you get higher chance of approval if you come to the interview with your fiancee?

Yes, always better than leaving her alone.

Thanks

About your dream to teach her how to drive, you should not do it. It is better to hire another person train her driving. The Vietnamese women are very bad in driving. She will make you frustrating, and both will be upset. My husband used to train me driving. It was really terrible days. I can speak English, can enter College without ESL class, can study legal program, can type 60-70 wpm, but not driving. :-(

One of the most valuable posts I've seen on VJ. Not just true for women from VN either...

I disagree. Whose basic rule is this? As long as the relationship is on the up and up there is nothing to fear in the least!!! blink.gif

Lawyers,

It is much better to have the questions presented to you in writing and answered only after consultation with an attorney. USCIS knows this and that is why they don't do it that way. What you say or how you act can have long term legal consequences.

It is rare but innocent people do end up in jail.

During an interview you are not just having a casual conversation with a friend. You are being interrogated by a trained interrogator. In some countries where the rate of immigration fraud is very low they may have the interview just because the rules say they have to. But if you are in a high fraud rate country be assured they can and will us their training as interrogators to look in every crack, to read all you body language. A simple miss speak can cause problems. If you are not there you can't miss speak. Like the time I entered the UK and said I was there for "work" instead of for "business".

My husband has his interview in July also i am definitely going to be there. And i know in Nigeria they will not let the spouse attend the interview but when she/he arrives with him/her it shows the CO that the relationship is bonafide. Your chances of getting approved is greater.

I disagree also unless you are hiding something. I would love to be interviewed just show more proof that we are in a bonafide marriage.

Can you guy's sense the OP's excitement. Haven't gotten the NOA2 yet and he's already planning all of this. OP, by no means is it a bad thing to plan ahead but it probably won't go exactly as planned so just be aware of that. I'm just surprised you have so much vacation time. Anyway, definitely go with your fiancee to the interview, it's nerve wrecking as heck and my wife said it helped her out a lot! They didn't ask me any questions but this wasn't Vietnam so I'd say go prepared to be interviewed. The day we went in for her interview, there were about 8 interviews scheduled and about 6 of them were denied. Mostly for "how they met" question being answered differently than what was on the K1 so immediately, that's enough info to suspect non bonified. Go and have fun, if you can get that much time off, why not wait till you know when she is going to have her interview, take a month off instead of just 2 weeks at a time and arrive a week before the interview, do your ceremonies, go with her to the interview, have enough time to hang out with her and wait for the visa then buy your plane ticket back. This way you save a nice chunk of cash on air fare and have plenty of time to enjoy yourself. I just can't see traveling 6+ thousand miles just to spend 2 weeks but that's just me.

If you met your finacee just once before,it might be helpful to go to see her again before interview. But there is not much help if you are there because you can't go into the interview hall with your fiancee. The visa officer will only interview her but not you. The higher chance of approval is to let your fiancee study your case well and prepare all answers for those questions the visa officer may ask.

Good luck!

Thank you you all. I will try my best to come to the interview with her. If we walk out with a pink on that day, that would be the best thing that ever happens to me as of now in my life. I will definitely spend the next 1 week with her there to celebrate, ask her to show me more of her hometown, all the places such as her schools that she went to when she was little and listen to her stories because she is about to go away from her hometown, her country,...We then would travel to some nice places in Vietnam to relax, shopping for the things that she would like to bring to the U.S.. We'll take lots of pictures and videos.

At that time it would be around December, perfect time for the end of the year where I get more than a week off. This is the best time for me and for her to go search for an apartment, buy some stuff such as the bed, kitchen ware,... so when I go back to work in January, she can stay home decorating and does some cooking for her not to get bored... Each day after work, I would take her to the beach and the park where i live and we go for jogging, .. i can start to teach her how to drive in the parking lot....

Can't believe I'll be married in half a year with the one i love so much and so does she.
