Hi All,

Would you please share your knowledge or provide the answers to some of these questions regarding the interview.

1. Should I make a trip to Vietnam and come to the interview with my fiancee?

2. If I come to the interview, would they interview me also?

3. Do you get higher chance of approval if you come to the interview with your fiancee?

Thanks

As a basic rule you want to avoid being asked any questions in person. The risk of you inadvertently saying something or your body language being misread is to great. Once they get the idea that something is not right you may find that you are trying to defend your self.

But I am sure someone can give you more specific advice for Vietnam.

I'm going to my husband's interview in July. I want to be there for moral support for him. I don't know what the percentages are as far as approval or denial are, but we have nothing to hide if I am interviewed as well. Many people attend the interview with their fiance or spouse.

I disagree. Whose basic rule is this? As long as the relationship is on the up and up there is nothing to fear in the least!!! blink.gif

It's always a good idea to be there if possible just to give your fiance(e) / spouse more confidence. From what I hear now in HCMC the USC is allowed in for the interview. No more just standing across the street.

The most important thing is for your fiancee to be as relaxed and confident as possible. No need to make her stressed by trying to memorize a bunch of questions. Just let her go in and tell the story of your relationship.

Today is the 88th day since I sent my I-129F application.

This is my plan, please provide any advices that you think might help us prepare for a successful interview. I am hoping and having high expectation that I can bring my fiancee over by December of this year, get married and at that time, I have more than a week off from work to show her around and to be with her for celebration.

so here is my plan.

When I receive my NOA2, which is around the end of July or early August. I will take a copy of all the documents I-129F that i sent 88 days ago to Vietnam and give it to my fiancee. I will aslo sit down with her to help her fill out what ever paper work or any steps that we need to do after NOA2. In addition to bringing the paper work to her, we will also have our engagement ceremony. The time for this trip is 2 weeks.

I will go back to the U.S. after the engagement ceremony and continue to discuss about the preparation for the interview with her. I am assuming by November, she'll get appointment for the interview then I'll make another trip to Vietnam to be with her before and during the interview if having me there helps.

If she gets the pink, we'll be so so happy. I will spend 1 week with her there in Vietnam to be with her family and my relatives. I'll buy some stuff that she wants to bring to the U.S., we'll travel to a few places to celebrate and for her to say good bye to her hometown. I will then book a ticket for her so that we'll fly together to the U.S. The time for this trip will be 2 weeks.

Don't make your return trip plans in stone. You may have to wait for the visa to be issued. Could be longer than a 2 week trip.

You can find the documents that she needs to complete on the HCMC website. Click the K visa link in my signature below.

My budget for this coming trip after NOA2 is $5000.

Airline ticket will be $1300

I'll buy her the engagement ring $1000

I'll give her family $1000 to prepare for a small wedding ceremony

I'll give my relative $1000 to prepare for a small wedding ceremony on my side, that includes invitation of around 20 people come to my family for food... and the cost of a rental car for around 7 people including me to drive 200km to her family for the engagement.

The remaining $700 will be used for me and her to spend on our two weeks there.

You filed I-129F, SO you are getting married and having your Wedding Ceremony in the U.S. RIGHT?

I ask because i see many I-129F COUPLES here on JV have problems after showing the CO at the interview photos from there Unofficial Wedding Ceremony making the CO think they got married already!

dam hoi, 20 people? huh?.... Wrightfamily it is common to have a Dam cui in VN (wedding ceremony) as long as it is not discussed with the CO or wedding style pics shown to the CO it is a non issue...

IMO it is best practices to be at the interview if possible.. it is a good way to make sure any questions are answered and not put off until another interview date... do it right the first go and be sure that you know everything about her and she knows EVERYTHING about you and your life...

my typo. What I meant is engagement ceremony with 20 people. Just family and some special friends.

The wedding will be held in the U.S. after she arrived.

I can't wait til the day when she receives the pink. I'll spend 2 weeks in December when she arrives and we'll go look for apartment together, teach her how to drive, explain to her how it is here in the U.S., help her look for a job ... all that is gonna be so beautiful.

She won't be able to get a license or a job until after adjustment of status. Plenty of time for driving lessons and job hunting.

Total only 20 people? Never heard of such a thing...
