I was told I could translate my own documents such as my fiance's divorce certificate, birth certificate and things like that. As long as I add this at the bottom of each page.

I, (translator's name), certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Spanish languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled .

Can someone please tell me if this is true. I was going to translate my fiance's divorce certificate but I just wanted to make sure that is okay since someone told me I might have to have an official translation of it. I know I will later to receive our wedding certificate but I wanted to make sure I can translation the documents for the K-1 visa.

it is better if you contact the USA embassy in your country to find out their requirements. In my country they accept the docs translated by a "certified translator"

Good luck!

Yes, it is true. This is the USCIS translation policy as seen here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations

Most documents do not need be translated for consulate, ie evidence of relationship (unless stated they must be in english, ie, one of the required immigration forms for consulate). But yes, required documents need be translated for USCIS, as jay kay states you can if qualified.
