Anyone else received their NOA from Vermont?

Has anyone else (apart from Sherlock) received their NOA from Vermont?

Based on Sherlock's experience, I am thinking I'll probably receive mine next week or the week my GC expires but I don't want to take a chance. Am I still allowed to work after it expires?

I really don't feel like making an infopass appointment but it looks like I am going to have to. One question: what should I choose for"type of appointment"?

Here are the choices:

You have received an approval letter or Form I-797 from the Service Center or local office instructing you to come into the office for alien identification card processing / passport stamp.

You have a question about your case.

You need to file an application for yourself or someone else.

You need an immigration form.

It has been more than 90 days since you filed an I-765 and you did not receive an Employment Authorization Card.

You need to replace your Permanent Resident Card.

You wish to speak to an immigration officer.

Not sure which one applies best...

Thanks

No NOA here. Filed 8/20.

Yes you can still work. You status has not expired even though your card has.

When does your card expire? If you're not planning any trips or don't expect to leave the country in a hurry there's probably no reason to infopass if it's a pain in the ####### for you.

Looks like you have a few choices for the appt. "You have a question about your case" or "You wish to speak to an immigration officer" would be my choices as both apply.

I'll answer anyway.

When I called the day before we actually got our NOA, they told me that we could go to the local office and get either a letter or 551 stamp in passport (operator not sure which). I had looked at making an infopass appt, and chose the "question about your case" since it seemed the closest. If you haven't already, you should call the info line and get the reciept number currently in the system. But be advised that this is not the same number that will be on the actual NOA, not sure why. Operator seemed to think I'd need that number for wife's visit to local office.

Hi,

I think you have to select "wish to speak to an officer", it seems like this is the option that leads to an appointment. I have one for this Thursday at 7:45 am in NYC. I can't wait..... :( It is such a hassle to leave the house at 5:00 am and then wait in line.

I agree with catlady. That will get you to a person who can do something instead of just telling you something.

My experience: I mailed out on 8/3 (Vermont), received NOA on 10/7 ( and Bimetrics appointment for 10/10 on the same day). I did make an appointment to nyc local office stapping my passport before I received my NOA. Looks like they are asking some more evidence in my NOA.

I made the Infopass for the same thing and chose "Question about my case". It's no big deal. I was half-expecting to get kicked off InfoPass with a "go to the website for help" warning.

I posted this in another thread, but it can't hurt to put it here too.

My advice is to make the first appointement of the day if possible. You are guaranteed to have nobody in front of you. I went to Boston and there were way more chairs than people who had appointments. I can imagine later in the afternoon there would be quite a wait.

My husband received his I-551 stamp without a problem. The officer said that she didn't hear about a problem with Vermont and their notifications and that they're more up to date than the 800 line.

Our appointment was at 7:00 AM and we were on the road at 7:20. I wasn't one minute late to work (and I live 45 minutes west of Boston).

Good luck!
