Hi everyone. Now that Ive calmed down from the approval, I am looking to see whats next. I think things have changed since I immigrated my husband so now I am confused. Can someone fill me in or direct me to a guide? I dont see anything specifically after the USCIS sends the approval.

My understanding is it goes to NVC. Do I pay something to NVC with my husband I did not so I am not sure? Then from NVC it goes to Embassy in Jamaica who sends stepdaughter the packet telling her to do medical, police report, the ds230 forms and the interview date.

Am I missing something? Any other fee's in there that I dont know about? It looks like some of you did AOS payment etc, so I am not sure about that since this is an I-130 STANDALONE.

Fill me in please, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Sara

Congrats! I know that very excited feeling that then just becomes another wait and see time period. When I brought my husband, the NVC was just a pass through and so quick. I have been reading everywhere that unfortunately its not that easy with our children. Mine was approved May 30. I started calling them on June 4th to see if I had a new number. They told me they don't have it yet and don't expect it until June 20th. At that point I can get the new number and the invoice ID #. i've been told we will need to submit our support info, like taxes and pay an additional fee. I think the fee is $88+230. You will also give them your email and need to submit a change of agent form so that they send you the packet instead of the beneficiary. I don't know how to link you to another post but if you search for Lingche NVC shortcut on this website it gives you all kinds of great advice. I hope our cases go through much quicker than is actually predicted. I'm sure you are just as anxious to have your step-daughter here with you as I am. But I do get to go spend a month with her next month, so I feel especially lucky. All the best and please let me know if you hear anything from the NVC.

Best

Tracey

HMM that is interesting Tracey! I don't really need them to send the packet to me. She is 16 and has her passport so she can do all the things herself. BUT nonetheless I will do whatever is the best thing to do. That is so interesting. I also thought if a US citizen applied for the child under 18, they didnt need an Immigrant number. I just read that somewhere. Im gonna look up that blog. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for replying!!!

Did you as the USc file for the stepdaughter, or your husband as the LPR ?

If it was you, then you will follow the guidelines above in bringing a spouse or family memeber to the US as the petitioner being a USC.

Oh sorry just assumed that she was a little one. If she is capable of dealing with the packet you don't have to do the change of agent. Also, you don't need to wait for a visa to come available. What i meant is that you will be given a new case number, different from the case number that you had at the USCIS. Thatwill be the new number that you will use to track your case. The invoice ID # is the number that will allow you to pay the fees that are due to the NVC. I hope that makes more sense. I've been told not to wait the 15 business days they tell you to wait, but to only wait a week and then call every day.

Wishing you a speedy time at NVC

Okay well the more I read now, the more I think Change of Agent is probably a good idea just so that I get everything done. It would be faster I think. I got the text message on 6.6 that her case had been approved. So I should wait until next week to call the NVC yeah? Im sorry, my problem is this is so opposite of my husbands scenario, Im sort of mixed up!! I appreciate everyones help.
