Hi ...my husband filed I-130 January 26, 2011 ...received NOA1 March 6, 2011..March 22, 2011 he came to the Philippines and lived with me for 6 months..we received RFE on August but it was too late to respond because we ran out of the allotted time to send in the requested document....so as we expected our application was denied due to abandonment of case. Last May 5, 2012 my husband sent the I-130 petition for the second time...received NOA1 May 7, 2012...keeping my fingers cross (with prayers of course) this time it'll workout!

I hope to hear from anyone who has the same situation...

We filed our I-130 on May 18th, and got our NOA1 dated May 21st.

I tried to see if I could get a tourist visa on my South African passport to visit my husband in Iowa whilst it was pending but was denied, of course :(

I asked if I could enter on the VWP with my Irish passport but the consular officer at Johannesburg said it was best not to try, as I may be turned away at POE. He said just to wait it out...

We are very weary of having a long distance relationship - but all does unfold as it should, so we are being philosophical at this point that it will all be worth it in the end.

Nice to know you all- and best wishes for everyone's journey! Let us keep one another posted...

You were probably processed faster because you are US Citizen living abroad with your spouse. If you search the forums on here, you'll see a thread where it is explained that pretty much all USCs who list a foreign address on the I-130 are processed at USCIS in a few weeks rather than waiting several months.

Hope that helps clarify your situation for you and benefits others who are debating which address to include on their forms.

Hey Thanks! Yeah, that does explain it! Any chance I could see the same speed at the NVC? I've heard that they were slowing down, so that is really disappointing since I was trying to get back to the US with my wife at the end of August.
