Waiting for EAD/ GC

Hi Everyone!

This might be a potentially stupid question, but considering how hard parts of this process is it is better to ask one time to many and be completely sure:). Anyway, I have moved to Alexandria, VA just outside Washington to be with my, since recently, wife on a K1. We have sent in all the paperwork for AOS and I'm now waiting for EAD/AP/GC.

So I've been thinking about what to do during the wait and I thought since I'm in the DC area it could be interesting to volunteer for the Obama campaign since there is so much political activity going on now. This mainly as a way to reach out and getting to know other people in my community. On their website I saw that you have to be a USC or a permanent resident to give money and therefore I thought that there is a tiny chance that that would also include volunteer work. Do anyone have an idea of this is the case? Cause if I understand it correctly you're not a permanent resident until you have successful adjusted your status?

If anyone else has some good ideas about what to do during the waiting time, please feel free the share as well!

Volunteering is a great idea. It is true you are not a Permanent Resident until your GC has been approved.

I am not aware of any bar on volunteering for a political campaign, but you could just call and ask them.

They probably don't accept donations from non-US people because of separate laws barring it.
