Hi, I am a newbie, I will like to see if someone could help, My husband interview was held in Egypt 12/05/2011 and was placed on Mandatory A/P, it has been six months and NO VISA after many requests to the cairo emmbassy with no sucess other than their automatic reply messages, calls to DOS and a a Congressional inquiry, the response continues to be the same.

The sad part is that my husband and I have not seen each other in three years and moreover we have a baby who turned two years old today (baby and father have not met one thing that makes all so sad) It has been so hard for me to travel due to many reasons, but My husband keeps on telling me to relocate to Egypt and start our life there and forget about the visa. I want to wait but than we ask our selfs if there is a possibility for this A/P to end up in a denial or if he will eventually get his visa. otherwise im thinking if by the end of this year there is not Visa i will relocate to Egypt.

Please let me know what has been your experience with Administrative Process and other advices will be greately appreciated

P.S I will update the time line and profile as soon as I can..

Ignoring the Visa issue you described...I believe you have a very patient man there not to be able to have met his own 2 year old by now. I would have been there at least once since the birth..no matter what my situation is.

Yes i have a great husband that is no question, perhaps even for me at times is hard to know how we been able to handle this situation but I had a difficult pregnancy and spent most of this time in and out the hospital, our son was born premature and we both felt it was not safe for him to travel until Dr. ok. but if anything i hope he gets his Visa soon and if not we will be reunited soon! Im so sorry for your situations.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done when it come to AP.

Usually it happens to citizens of specific country, more over the name play a big big rule,

My father (who is 60 and look old) needed to wait about 3 month to get out of AP and getting a tourist visa because of his name(Mohamed), while my mom got her visa a week only after interview. its pretty standard procedure nowadays :(

Since you are on AP , that means they have no problem with your husband rather than checking on his background etc.. this is a time consuming process and it can take as long as a year in some cases.

Mine was alot easier since my name is not common so I was lucky to get my visa in a week after interview.

My best advise is to try together to get you to Egypt for a vist even for just a week, eventually he will get his visa as long as he is clean.

My prayers.

My husband had a very intense interview the officer was not very nice, she focus alot in my husbands religion, and mine and asked him in several situations if he was sure that the baby was his. he was requested additional documentation (supporting documents for relationship and most current Tax filing) that my husband had with him at the time and the officer refused to take and requested for me to send them from USA via DHL. Once documents were sent i requested an update and i was told he was placed on Mandatory AP and it has been the same ever since

In all fairness, there are also some "Ahmeds" that got no AP and some short AP... so i don't think that's a thing... lol... it really is case-specific... i really wish i could figure out the logic in selecting cases for AP... its seems too random at times =\

I have not figured out government thought processes either but I try to look at patterns. I googled 911 terrorists and the 19 names were saeed, mohamed, khalid, wael and like 16 were born in saudi. So alot of these names get name hits and AP

Those names are just a few of the 19 hijackers. I have included the full list below with their birthplace. Some believe 7 of these hijackers made it out alive and that the govenment is looking for them. I have astericked after those 7 names.

Personally, I think this case is probably more about not seeing each other for a very long time and not a name issue.

1. Khalid al-Mihdhar (Saudi)

2. Nawaf al-Hazmi (Saudi)

3. Mohamed Atta (Egyptian)

4. Marwan al-Shehhi (UAE)

5.Ziad Samir Jarrah (lebanese)
