Ok, I finally got my divorce decree. Do I have to copy and include all 46 pages or just the top page with my name and date of dissolution. I have seen other visa sites and the only one I saw with a divorce decree, the guy copied all his pages showing the agreements between him and his ex, I don't feel it is any business of the USCIS what days I have my kids or what property was divided.

Thx for anyone who knows the answer, please only if you know the answer, I don't need an opinion, I need a fact.

What country or state you live in has different rules and what you need as documentation. Also be careful on filing too soon if there is a waiting period before you are free to marry. We needed a divorce certificate that states the date I was free to marry.

I know it needs to at least show the signature pages where the county recorder

or judge signs off with their official seal. And from all the background checks

our names go through when USCIS checks our backgrounds, you can be assured they

know everything about you, your ex-spouse, and all the pertinent details.

The divorce decree is normally a one page certificate with your state or county seal on it. It will also have the date on which your divorce was final. You don't have to send in your separation agreement, which I believe is what you meant when you said all 46 pages.

Where I live, the Decree has none of the financial information. Its two pages and certified (with a raised stamp). The divorce agreement is also certified but includes all the terms and financial information. I only sent the Divorce Decree with states the date the divorce was final. There was separate paper work filed with the divorce to enable the Decree to be available. If I wanted it available after the divorce and failed to file the papers correctly in the beginning, I would have to petition the court to create one. But its much nicer having a two page piece of paper to send than having a lot of private information being handed around.

I have the decree, with 1 two sided page, but its a copy, not the certified raised seal version, is it necessary to have the certified copy? I heard it's not necessary unless they request it?

Copies are good unless they request the original.

I sent copies of my actual divorce papers, showing the stamps and signature of the judge. I received an RFE and had to get actual "certificates" from the state showing everything is on file with them. Save yourself the time, and see about getting the certificates before you send everything in.

Correcrt, do not send the agreement. Typically there is waiting period before divorce is final (ie 0-180 days, depending on state). After this waiting period, you can get a decree, 1 page with seal. This page states the divorce is final (prior to waiting period, you are NOT free to marry). Lenghty agreement is worthless to USCIS.

I had to go to the probate court which stores all of the family records to get a certified copy of mine. It cost $20. USCIS was ok with my sending a copy in the mail with the applications, but I brought the actual certified copy with me to our interview, they never asked to see it.

I'm from California also. I sent a Xerox Copy of my entire final divorce papers. Mine did have the raised stamp. The Xerox copies worked fine for the initial processing with the USCIS. The original was sent to my fiance before her interview. The interviewer did ask to see the original divorce decree so thankfully I sent it. I'm now just starting this process again for the second time after a divorce. I just went to the court house again for a divorce decree in California and again it is the entire divorce with signatures spread out through the entire thing. Front page has the raised stamp and says certified copy. After looking it over with a close friend who helps people process there K1s for a living, he advised me to send the whole thing. I also got a second divorce decree from Nevada it is a nice tight 3 page Decree with all signatures and stamp. It may depend on the county your divorced in.
