I saw the Manassas one, Udella. I may even attend one this year. But I'd probably tend toward the Fairfax one instead. There's probably a big event being held through MeetUp, though.

None in Branson, so I decided to host one. Anyone in the area who wants to help me host it is more than welcome to help out! There are tons of Canadians that come through here, it would be awesome to have a bunch of them come over!

I think I'll have Corner Gas run in the background, and we can eat butter tarts and drink Caesers! Poutine might be a bit of a stretch, but I could still do french fries and REAL gravy, what's with the white stuff?

We're going to the shore on Saturday for the week but will be driving back for that. This is also the first summer since I have lived here that my son is staying with me, he's 13 now - doesn't want to go visit grandma anymore - so he's going to experience it too.

My Mom is coming down for Canada Day with a butt load of stuff and we are off to the Baseball game all decked out... Hopefully it will be an awesome time. Only celebration here has an entrance fee. Yeah not paying that! lol Michael calls himself an honorary Canadian

I think I have decided I don't care either way...hanging out with a bunch of people I've never met is beyond my comfort zone (in 100 degree+ heat). It bugged me the first couple years here but mostly because all my friends and family were off and I missed them. Honestly I never did anything back home except have a picnic or BBQ with the fam in the backyard. My parent's church has a big shindig and games etc but I haven't participated in that in years.

My wife is missing her Rib Fest for Canada day. This is her second one away from Canada and she's missing it already. I hope that we are done with the AOS process soon so we can go back. She really misses Canada, especially when she reads about all her friends and family doing things for Canada on Facebook.

Well...My husband and I went to the Poutine Party in Washington DC on Friday and it was AWESOME! The poutine was amazing and there were a lot of really cool people there. Open bar and all you can eat poutine for $25? Sure! I think I had more than $25 worth of drinks anyway!

We had to leave a bit early, because there was a HUGE storm coming in. My husband parents texted him and told him about so he checked the weather on his phone. Man...we were getting on the Metro as a huge gust of wind hit us. When we got back to Annapolis, at least in my part of the city, it looked like it had been hit by a tornado. Trees down, no power...it was crazy. Our power was out before we got back to our apartment at midnight on Friday, and just came back on tonight at 6 pm (Sunday). What a weekend!

My husband's friends are very considerate. We had them over for dinner on Saturday and they said they were bringing desert and brought me a cake that looked like the Canadian Flag. And it was maple flavoured... yum!
