Keep in mind things tend to slow down in the summer... Embassy staff posted out/in and summer holidays

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

This is the week they began scheduling interviews for July and they will continue scheduling probably until next week.

I had a Case Complete May 17th and had my interview scheduled for July 9th, but they did not begin scheduling until just 2 days ago.

So given this, you MIGHT get a late July interview if they have spots left. If this is the case you will find out via email within the next week or so (or you can call every day to find out). If not, then you'll have to wait for an August interview (but I think you'll likely get a late July interview)

Hello,

Interested to know if "J&JWS" got the interview date?

I am also waiting for the interview date in Montreal. My Case Complete was June 27th.

I really hope for my interview date end of August... the timeline indicated at http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Canada&cty=Montreal is kind of scaring me.

Thank you. Fab

Good luck at your interview. I hope you do not have the same issues we have had in Montreal :bonk: with domicile and stuff. We had our interview in mid June. Hopefully we will have our visas within the next couple of weeks. Either that or I WILL get there some how...some way. Maybe not legally, but I will get there.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how long it takes for US consulate to return the passport with Visa? My CR1 interview was last week and the interviewer told me I should get it within 5 days. I still haven't gotten it. It has been 7 days now. Also whats AP?

It can take as little as 2 days or up to 2 weeks!! Sometimes their is no rhyme or reason why it takes so long. Keep in mind the USA consulates were closed this past Monday due to a holiday.

AP--Additional Processing. Did they tell you that? It can happen if you come from a country that isn't soo friendly with the USA (ie Iran, etc etc)
