AoS Interview - proof of citizenship for the sponsor

My wife finally received her notice for her AoS interview for Apr26 (we submitted our AoS application back on Sept 2005). However, I have a question in showing/proofing that I'm a legit US Citizenship. Currently I lost my passport and I can't seem to find it. But our lawyer said that it's ok to simply show them my US Naturalization certificate to proof that I'm a legit US Citizen. Plus she said that not everyone has a passport anyway. Do you guys agree with that?

Similarly, should we bring all originals of the forms and certificate such as my wife's birth certificate, passport, etc.

Lastly, the notice for this interview mention something about medical forms? Does that simply mean we need to do another medical for her? Because when she came in via K1 visa her medical forms (and xRay) was wrapped in the envelope and was taken by the custom when she arrived at her first port of entry. So sort of confuse on that now.

We also have plenty (we believe) to show that we are a Legit couple: bank account with our names on it, car insurances, house title, emails. We've even heard that we should have few of our friends who knew us before we got married to write a short letter stating that we are a legit couple, how we met, etc.

Let us know your thoughts on all this, as we are the AoS Virgin Interviewee. Thanks very much in advance!

Your naturalization certificate is all the proof you need.... yes take all the original form and certificate with you...

If your wife had her medical less than 1 year ago then she does not need another medical... she will need the vaccination suplement...

letter from friends can help but try to have wedding photos and photos of you together since the wedding as well as joint bank accounts, car insurance, house title, beneficiary to 401K, life insurance, medical insurance and mail you have both recieved....

make photo copys of everything so you can give the interviewing officer any thing they may want to keep...

Good Luck

Yes kezzie is correct - your naturalization certificate is all you need. However, I had to show him my passport because the interviewing officer wanted to see my arrival & departure stamps for my trip into Colombia! So, if you are the one who visited her (for K1 proof of meeting) then be prepared to show something else if the passport is not availble e.g. itinerary or airline tickets or something. Maybe your interviewing officer is not interested in that but who knows what they may think of? Good Luck

Our officer never asked for any proof of my aunt's citizenship as a cosponsor. She did ask for my passport though, but I think that was more to make sure I was who I claimed I was.

As for the medical, go get an I-693 supplement filled out by a civil surgeon. You will not need a full medical if your overseas medical was done in the last year. Don't let the civil surgeon con you into thinking you need the whole medical. You don't. Our supplement cost $50 and took only 15 minutes to fill out. You need to show proof of your vaccinations somehow, whether you have old medical records or a copy of the vaccination supplement they gave you overseas.

But definitely get this done. Our officer warned us that many times they don't get the original medical results sent to them and they've had to wait to approval many people every day because they don't come in with a new supplement. So for definite piece of mind, get it done.

Good luck on the interview!
