Hi,

my situation is that I have been selected for DV process 2013 (CaseN 2013EU00010463), I have the J1 visa and I am to leave for the US in 14 days with intended return on October the 4th.

This means that I cannot Adjust my status, because my number could become current only after October the 1st 2013 and since I am leaving three days after that I simply will not have the time to complete my Adjust application? Neither I can apply for the common DV consular process, because I will not be at home (means US embassy here) by the time the of the visa interview... Did I get this right? Do you have any advice how to solve my situation?

Thanks

From my understanding it would be illegal to enter on a J-1 with the intention of adjusting status anyway, since J-1 is a non-immigrant visa. So while it's possible to adjust status, you can't enter with the intention to adjust.

If the dates you provided are correct, you will be one year shy of 10/1/2013 when you return from your J-1. Did you mean 2012 instead of 2013?

In this case, you may wish to consider ditching the J-1 and working on the required paperwork for you to finalize your residence.

Yeah it's more and more clear to me that I would have to sacrifice either my summer job&stay in the US or the "chance" to get the GC....damn this.
