Hello dear readers. I was just wondering if some filers were in the same boat as me. my wife and I filed the I-751 to remove the conditions on the residency back in october 2011. In April 2012 we received an RFE for more documents which was a general rfe asking for the same documents we sent in before. Anyway we replied to the Rfe around April 16 and haven't heard anything since. btw we file with the california center and checking some forums I found that most people who replied to their RFEs after us already got approved or have heard something. I do not know what is going on out there but it is very frustrating. Anybody in the same situation with California? What should I do? don't you guys think that I should have heard or got an answer of some sort( Approval or interview letter)from them by now?

Thank you Juliava for the reply. I called the national customer service and the rep put in a request and said i will hear from them and I might need to wait since rfe replies are within 30-60 days. But it is weird that people replying to their rfe after me are getting responses within 2 weeks and I am still waiting

If you go around this forum, including my case, majority of the CSC filers are getting RFE.

Why? Not because you didn't submit enough documents, but it's a tactical decision to buffer and slow down the work load as USCIS is severely short on hands.

Or full of idiots, whichever is true.

Heck I'm 1 year into my ROC without updates, and my N-400 has already been scheduled for interview.

Go figure.

Heh, I got the similar thing, except mine was relocated to the local office and a SR promising that I'll "receive a decision within 60 days" in written paper letter, was never kept. That was back in February. Now I'm few days away from 1-year mark of my ROC.

Of course it's a joke, that's why I got the people who don't think these things are funny involved: my congressman.

Now it's my turn to laugh at USCIS.

Oh so they told you in the e-mail that your case was relocated? And you never received a letter in mail about such action. Were you suppose to go to an interview? Maybe we have the same officer lol... because many other people got responses after replying to their RFEs and within 2 weeks mark. Most May rfe repliers already got approved or got letters for interviews.

Let me give you a timeline.

06-11: ROC filed, NOA1 received

07-11: RFE received

09-11: RFE responded (hired a lawyer for a complete package)

10-11: "Relocation" letter received in the mail, told the application was relocated to the LA office and "expect interview"

02-12: SR put in regarding the case, week later letter received in the mail from the LA office, saying I should "receive a decision within 60 days"

05-12: No response received, N-400 filed and congressman involved, USCIS responded within a week with no explanation about the case what-so-ever.

06-12: I-551 stamp made, N-400 interview notice received.

That's my misadventure. I signed up for electronic update and I NEVER got any. Heck my case status is still saying it's received. Now I'm just going to get my N-400 done and get it over with...

Good luck with your N-400 interview. The stamp that you got, what is it for? The 10 year or is it just to allow you for the naturalization? I am really sorry that you had to go through this wait and I sm already frustrated over mine. can't even travel in the fear that they might send you an interview notice while we are outside the country

I also got this letter when waiting for a biometrics appointment. "Should" does not mean "you will" though, unfortunately.

What did your congressman find out about your case?

That's fine by me. If they cannot keep their promises then more the power to me as I have exhausted my options, in which is the exact situation the congressman looking for when it comes to cases like this.

I received a print out of an email from the director of USCIS responding to my congressman 2 week after I officially made the inquiry. It did not state anything regarding why my ROC was delayed, however it did state that since I have a pending N-400, they are just going to prioritize my N-400 instead. If my N-400 is approved then my ROC is ignored and closed, otherwise it'll go back to ROC.

Got an email on Monday, saying that I'm scheduled for N-400 interview. Haven't got the actual letter yet but heck, it's some progress.

The i-551 is an extension stamp. Since the NOA-1 you received after filing the ROC only grants you one-year extension, certain cases like mine which takes more than a year, you need to make an InfoPass to your local USCIS office and get that stamp on your passport, which acts as another NOA-1 for another year. Remember keep yourself in status.

Hello Steve!

How are you doing? I hope things are going okay with you and you are ready for the interview. Well yesterday I received a letter in the mail saying that my request to remove the conditions on my green card has been approved and I will receive the new card within 30-60 days. And guess what my application was adjudicated by the San Bernardino office which has no juridiction over residency since I live in L.A county. That is how worst it is getting. They are so short handed that they send applications everywhere to be processed. My guess is that they probably lost your documents. Good that you applied for the citizenship. Thank you for sharing your thoughts

Ho and I forgot, I went to the USCIS website to see the status of my application and it says the same exact thing when I first filed the application and when it was received. No update! Dot no rely on the website, it is not always updated especially for forms I-751
