I see you have veered in 'here is what I think' as well which is my point that this pastor is no more right or wrong than those who disagree with him.

Considering that his job is not a popularity contest he should be just fine even if he ends up with one sheep in his flock. According to the scriptures, Christ himself was not much too popular in his time either...

Truth is that 'here is what I think' is all anyone can offer in matters of religion, otherwise there would not be so many manifestations in each faith.

I don't think I have speculated anything more than way history and his congregation have demonstrated.

If we were discussing issues of division on matter of faith that would be one thing but this idea that certain abominations can suddenly get a seal of approval is silliness.

There are "some" self titled Christians who also see adultery as healthy, does that change the clear teaching on the matter or the historical view of the Church on the topic?

The only demonstration his congregation gave was that some disagreed and left, others agreed and stayed.

It is no different than when some decided to part with their church at the time when some priests sided with the suffragettes or supported doing away with Jim Crow laws.

It only shows that the historical views of the church are set forth by men, no different than the rest of us, and as such make use of their god given right to free thinking.

The historical views of the church are not directed by god so much as they are a result of politics.

In the end, your actions and the way by which you live your life are only relevant to you and god. Else, we would not have been endowed with a conscience.

And the common sense answer is . He has a right to openly endorse whatever he wants and people have a right to go to church elsewhere if they don't like it.

I personally support Gay rights, but I am a right leaning libertarian. I also support a Church s right to ban Gay minister's and refuse to marry homosexual couples.

However if the state is going to offer certain right to opposite sex couples to enter into a state sanctioned Union the same should be offered to same sex couples.

Basically the state should get out of the marriage business entirely.

I think I know what a 'pro gay stance' is - I recently had my prostate checked and the 'stance' was similar to looking off the Colorado bridge seconds before taking a bungee jump

It's not very dignified, it's quite drafty and I am against it
