He would have had similar results if he had also affirmed ....oh I don't know ADULTERY.

Only the sanctity of marriage can be sullied by adultery.

I understand you have your personal opinions on life and so on but this topic concerns a Christian minister endorsing what is clearly an "abomination" to the Christian tradition as well as numerous scriptures on the topic.

And to be a little more accurate, the Bible does make allpwences for divorce in some situations, I don't see any for same sex relations (not to mention the marriage of the two).

Like the Constitution?

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945.

Yeah, what he said.

The Bible is somewhat older than the Constitution, and since I never said the Constitution was dated how does an idiotic statement earn a thumbs up? Oh yeah, Danno-logic striking again...

When did I call the Constitution dated?

You haven't, to my knowledge. It was a question, did you not see the ? mark?

I know ideologically we're opposites -- but does a question need to cause blood to squirt from your eyes?

The christian bible does not make allowances for divorces, a position still held by the Catholic church.

Anyway, this is about a christian minister endorsing what he believes to be right. If he is wrong on this, then chances are that other preachers/ministers/pastors may be wrong in not endorsing it, because it all stems from each individual's relationship with god.

It is almost as though the bible should never be taken literally nor should any of its interpretations go unquestioned. That is how faith falls into the traps of fundamentalism and becomes just another superstition.

No blood boiling though perhaps I came to the erroneous conclusion you thought I felt that way from a comment in another thread.

Now see there you go again veering into the "here's what I think" area.

This has nothing to do with what you think about theology. It has to do about a Christian minister loosing his church because he drifted into a stand that most of his church knew was contrary to biblical teaching.

It really has little to do with "individual relationships" with God either ... (whatever that means) The bible plainly condemns sodomy, it even condemns men acting effeminate. This is not a "new revelation" in fact,

that some are willing to dismiss it is whats new yet apparently not all that popular, especially with this congregation.

I see you have veered in 'here is what I think' as well which is my point that this pastor is no more right or wrong than those who disagree with him.

Considering that his job is not a popularity contest he should be just fine even if he ends up with one sheep in his flock. According to the scriptures, Christ himself was not much too popular in his time either...

Truth is that 'here is what I think' is all anyone can offer in matters of religion, otherwise there would not be so many manifestations in each faith.
