If the current numbers hold steady (Walker 57%:43% Barrett) this will be seen as anything but close. Seems the voters in Wisconsin wanted to send a message about the recall itself.

BBC says 60 (Walker) to 39 (Barrett & Unions).

Yup, more than half of WI knows that unions staged this--and it backfired on them royally!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Mind boggling to know there are folks that reject fiscal responsibility where govt is concerned.

Well, the union thug leadership got their collective brains bashed in last night in WI.

That's a good sign.

Obama's toast in November.

I personally know a lot of people (my husband included) that voted for Walker to stay in, but are planning to vote for Obama in November.

This will probably end up as a very expensive Pyrrhic victory. Walker and his supporters spent nearly 10 times as much as his opponent, most of that money coming from out of state. While Walker won, it appears that the Republicans lost control of the state senate. Considering how decisive has made state politics, he will now be a lame duck.

Sure, I imagine the race in November will be a close one - much tougher than the recall in Wisconsin.
