getting ready for Noa2

Hi guys. It seems the CSC has been picking up speed lately, and based on other February filers experiences, our NOA1 could be approved as early as this week. I was just looking for some clarifications for what my husband needs to send me (to prevent any delays in this process). I was looking at the guides above, which had some great info, and this is what I got:

My husband needs to send the following:

-DS-3032 form (specifying me as the agent) + barcode (which probably will be given to us once the NOA1 is approved)

-DS-230 form (which is his actual visa application)

-2 passport pictures (the additional ones needed for the interview stage can be gotten later)

-police clearance certificate (since his passport is older than 6 months)

-passport office clearance certificate

-copy of birth certificate

And from my side, I need to get:

-F4506t (form to fax to government to get a copy of my last 3 years tax returns... I'll probably need some help from you guys on how to fill this out)

-Form I-864

Can anyone verify if this is correct? Does anyone know if it's absolutely essential for my husband to get his birth certificate and police/passport clearance certificates done right now? Or can that wait without holding up the process? The reason I'm asking is because both of those have to be obtained from different cities (as his city is small and doesn't have a passport office, and he was born in a different city). I'm not sure if he'll be able to go to obtain these documents before the end of the month, due to his work, as he will have to take off at least a day for each document. So I was just wondering which ones are necessary to get first and which ones can hold off on for a bit. Thanks so much!

Here are the few specific questions I have:

1. I was going to email my husband the DS-230 available online so he could fill it out and print it. But the current version online says 'expires 4/30/12'. I'm not sure if this would be acceptable or not, since there is no updated copy yet available.

2. On the F4506t (tax return form), I have 4 questions:

a. For question 9, I am a bit confused on what I need to list for the dates for the last 3 years tax return. Should I list '12/31/11'.... '12/31/10'.... '12/31/09'...? I wasn't sure if that's what they were looking for.

b. Also, is the only thing I need to checkmark box '6a'? I wasn't sure.

c. Do I need my husband's signature to get my tax returns? I did file a joint return, but I am not planning to get his signature, as I figured that would just take a whole lot more time.

d. I am unclear which number is needed to fax to. On page 2, there are numbers listed either for 'individual tax return' or for all 'other returns'. I just don't want to fax to the wrong place.

Thank you!!!

He can email the DS-3032 to the NVC, see this wikifor how to do that.

-DS-230 form (which is his actual visa application)

-police clearance certificate (since his passport is older than 6 months)

-passport office clearance certificate

Need a country specific answer.

-copy of birth certificate

REVISION: Copy needs to be an original certified copy plus a photocopy per NVC instructions.

My Answers inline with bold/underlined text.

4/30/12 date is for govt internal use. This the latest valid DS-230 out there. Yes, your husband can use this. Fill out part - I and II, but your husband must sign only part I and leave Part - II unsigned.

2. On the F4506t (tax return form), I have 4 questions:

Thank you!!!

You may skip filing F4506t form to get IRS transcript if your home address is same as what you used to file 2011 tax return.

You can request IRS Transcript online: http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

I requested online for 2011,2010,2009 and 2008 years and got it delivered in less than 1 week.

I don't think copy of birth certificate will work at NVC stage. NVC does require certified copy of birth certificate.

I have already answered OP's question regarding Passport/Police Clearance Certificate in India regional forum section.

I don't think copy of birth certificate will work at NVC stage. NVC does require certified copy of birth certificate.

Earlier post appropriately revised to be more precise.
