I-864 Question (to use A or not to use A)

I live with my father and I would like to use him as a joint sponsor, which form is best to fill out for him the I-864 or the I-864 A

Its good to note that he does not list me as a dependant in his taxes

Timeline

If the joint sponsor is head of their own household then it is better for that sponsor to do an I-864. That gives the adjudicator a clearer picture of the sponsor's household. Why risk the delay of a request for a different document when you can supply it from the beginning?

This is the correct procedure and an excellent explanation of WHY it is correct. Context is everything regarding such questions, and in THIS context, use two I-864 forms.

Since your father does not claim you as a dependent on his taxes, you don't list yourself anywhere as you are not considered part of your father's household for immigration purposes.
