Hi Friends,

My fiance had his interview on May 8th 2012 at his Embassy in Nigeria. We had our packet put together flawlessly with several pictures of us together from last year when I visited and there was even a picture of us when he got down on one knee to propose. We have known each other for over one year and met through a mutual friend and started corresponding through email, messenger, phone, mail and Skype. W were so excited to go through this process and have everything approved but when he did his interview at the Embassy which seemingly went very well, the official left his post, came back and presented my fiance with a paper that said denied. Relationship is for immigrant purposes only. Which is not true. I wrote my Senators and one wrote back saying that they couldn't do anything and the other Senator has not responded at all and it has been almost a month of waiting for a reply.

Tell me friends any suggestions at this late date of what to do ?

Thank you .....

P.S.

I also wrote Homeland Security and have not received a response

So you only met on the one occasion.

I would suggest you wait until you have done a few more trips, spent some serious time together, and then try again.

You sre dealing with Lsgos. You trsvelled once, submitted " a few pcitures" included a staged proposal ( him on one knee isn't very Nigerian ) Did you include pictures with his parents or siblings ? It really sounds like you underprepared for Lagos. You may know how valid your relationship is but Lagos assumes you were hooked up with a Nigerian solely to get him into the US. You need to either do another K1 or get married and go the CR1 route with more vidits and a LOT of documentation of your relationship.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

My husband and I had only been together twice before he went for his interview. He is from Nigeria but was in London when he had to go for his interview. He did tell me that he was sure the way he was able to answer the questions with good eye contact and the way he showed his confidence in the relationship we have was what made everything for us go so smoothly. I am sure if you ask your fiance how he answered his questions you will see that at some point something either happened or a question was asked that he may have not felt 100% with his answer and the person doing the interview could see that. Don't give up, stay strong and pray pray pray.. I promise it works..

Good Luck

First, I am so sorry for your heartbreak. But all isn't lost. You'll get through this and file or whatever and in time be with your baby. Okay now to business.

Remember this is Lagos so much is expected. High fraud embassy some say in a category all its own. Yet it can be conquered and it has. As others have stated a full indication of the questions can help maybe guide us to help why they came to this decision.

But some things to process now is this:

1. Is there a big age difference where the woman (I assume the USC) is older.

2. Married before, with children

3. Recent divorce since you two started dating.

4. Your visit was a short visit

5. No pictures with friends or family. Especially family.

6. Did you have as evidence receipts you sent fiancé money.

7. Beneficiary has been petitioned before

8. Petitioner has petitioned other immigrants before.

9. Filed petition fast. Like after meeting for first time, within a year of meeting.

Just some red flag issues that Lagos really consider in their "for immigration purposes".

The biggest thing to knock out red flags is face time as many visits as you can for as long as you can.

What is okay at other embassies won't hold here.

Again I am sorry.

The receipts for money sent is a judgment call. Of course we all I am sure as the USC send money now and than to our SO but some embassies like Lagos may look at too much too often lOoking like you may be scammed. Or if the immigrate SO sending money to USC may look like they are buying their way to a greencard.

Personally I would keep out for evidence up front and just have a few for interview In case they ask. Although I have yet to read or hear anyone asked for proof they sent or received money from SO.

If you do present receipts explain on cover page "money sent for bills, too buy phone, mother,, etc"

Well now you have about a year to wait cos I have just finished a year wait after ours was sent back for "review for immigration purpose". But if yours is a K-1 I will suggest that you go ahead and marry him and file I130, cos in a year the K-1 will have expired. Good luck! Our's was reapproved, hope yours will be to.
