Hi everybody willing to help!

We are about to send the I-130 package along with 2 affidavits attesting our bona fide marriage. I did some search online and I found some affidavit examples which state just NAME, IMMIGRATION STATUS, AGE, OCCUPATION, ADDRESS of affiant. And then I found some other affidavit examples which state NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, PLACE OF BIRTH, IMMIGRATION STATUS, AGE, OCCUPATION, ADDRESS of affiant.

The question is: Is the date of birth and place of birth of a person making the affidavit mandatory??

Thank you

This is what I have used to file I-130 for my wife back in 12/2011 and got NOA2 in 5/2012.

I just sent a certified copy of our marriage certificate to prove our marriage (which has mentioned my name and my spouse's name with marriage date, location and registration date). I did not send *any* other affidavit document.

Our marriage certificate does not include our DOB and Birth Place in there. So I don't think it's a mandatory requirement.

I read few applicants got RFE to provide 2nd evidence to prove your marriage. So you may add your wedding pictures or some bank documents which has both names on it.

No I don't think it's mandatory, but it wouldn't hurt either. The most important part of the affidavit is how the person knows you and what knowledge they have about your relationship and marriage. If their place of birth and age help demonstrate that, why not include it.

I am sorry I think you are confusing the original questioner and not providing helpful information. The I-130 petition requires secondary proof of bona fide marriage, not just the marriage certificate. Affidavits are one way of helping supply that, since individuals who know the couple can attest to the nature of their relationship. As you suggest, wedding pictures and financial records are also helpful.

Your suggestion that a marriage certificate is enough is misleading and inaccurate.

Thank you for your response, but since we are both young people who just got married and have no kids or properties or financial co-mingling yet. I figured that the only things we could provide are our pictures from numerous occasions and also those affidavits.

Read my previous post closely. I have provided my personal experience and I have also mentioned about other documents which may prove your relationship and avoid any possibility to get RFE. There is no such mandatory requirement from USCIS to submit Affidavit of bonafied marriage.

Me and my wife both are in our 20's and no previous marriage. Only proof we had was our marriage certificate, wedding and other trip photos, chat/phone logs.

Read my previous post closely.

I read it very carefully. Nobody suggested that the affidavits were mandatory, and OP was just asking what they needed to include.

This sentence in your post could have left the incorrect impression that a marriage certificate is all that is required to "prove" a bona fide marriage. OP had already decided that he wanted to send in the affidavits, so it was a little off-topic and not responsive to his question to try to convince him otherwise. In any case, OP suggested that he may not have a lot of other evidence of a bona fide relationship, so including the affidavits is entirely advisable.

I just sent a certified copy of our marriage certificate to prove our marriage (which has mentioned my name and my spouse's name with marriage date, location and registration date)

Please try to keep in mind that many posters here are not native English speakers, so this sentence could be much clearer.
