I am new here so i just wanted some info.

* April 19th 2012I filed i-130, I-485,I-765 .

*April 30th I received the I-797 notices saying they recieved the documents and are processing them.

* May 2nd recieved an Appointment notice to appear for fingerprinting

* May 18th i went to do my fingerprinting.

So now i am just waiting. I wanted to know whether anybody knew what happens next? how soon should i expect to hear

from USCIS about my case? When will i get the work permit? When do my husband and I do the interview.

I will really be grateful for all info. Thanks in advance :-)

AOS in general seems to be taking about 5-7 months for approval. Even longer for some people.

EAD/AP (work and travel permit) seem to be taking about three months for approval.

You don't really 'hear back' from USCIS about your fingerprints. They're just used for your EAD/AP card and green card when you receive it.

So i should expect to recieve some sort of notice in the mail in July?

i read a couples tories on here where people got their work permit 3-4 weeks after

doing fingerprinting .

Yes, some people do. I was one of them. But every case is different in this process. There's no guarantees your case will be similar to someone else's. Nothing to do but wait!

What visa are you AOSing from?

Posted (edited)

The timeline basically gives other posters information about your case. What type of visa process you're going through, which stage of the process you're at, how long it's taking, etc. It simply helps people answer your questions better, as some answers are very specific to the kind of visa the person is talking about.

Filling out timelines also compares cases like yours to other cases here on VJ so they can give you rough estimates as to when you can expect to see any progress.

If you look at the top right corner of your page (where your name is, where you've signed in) there is a drop down menu that you can click on. One of the options in that menu is "My Timeline (add/edit)" ... click on that and it will walk you through the steps.
