To be on the safe side, is better have the originals with you.

You can book your medical as long as you have your case number. Without a case number they will not book anything unfortunately.

What about notorized copies? I would be so nervous asking my parents to send original passports/ birth certificates transatlantically! Has anyone else had to deal with this in regards to a joint sponsor's documents?

I guess notarized will be fine, but please double check before you go to interview! Good Luck!!

Hello all,

My wifes interview is booked for 14th Feb so we were getting all of the docs ready and copied yesterday - one quick question... one of her sponsors is her American Sister-in-law. Do we need a copy of her passport to go with her I-864 or will the I-864 suffice without a copy passport?

Thanks ever-so!

You will need a copy of her passport or other proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate.

Having a bit of a panic moment here - nothing too serious I hope!

It just occurred to me, obviously my DH will need to take original documents with him to the interview. However, my mother in the US is a joint sponsor and has only sent in copies of her original documents. Does she need to send us the originals, and isn't that awfully risky??

Also, we haven't received the NOA2 letter yet, but can we still go ahead and book a medical?

Cheers!!

On the instructions of the I864, it states that you can use copies of the tax docs, but that copies of the associated W2s & 1099s should also be included. You should definitely have the original I864 with signature though.

Also- you can't book your medical until you receive your case number, which comes from the NOA2. You should get this within 5 weeks of approval of your I130.

Copies of birth certificates/passports are fine. Read the I864 instructions, I think it will answer a lot of your questions & put your mind at ease. :-)

I have seen in regards the medical people mentioning if it is between certain months the flu jab is required. I will probably be having my medical at the start of march so will I need it and if so should I just get it on the day?

On the list of immunizations needed it does not appear to mention this at all and a lot of them seem to be age/gender specific. I thought the flu jab was only needed if you were over a certain age and not if you were in your 20's?

All comments I've seen on this forum indicate that regardless of age, season, gender, etc, the flu jab is required- even though it doesn't say on in that little chart. My hubby's appt is next Monday & I think he'll just get his jab there. It's £15 at our local pharmacy or £21 there, so we're just making it easier on ourselves!

Yes you will need it-applies to pretty much all.

Just get it done at the medical- £22

CR1 / DCF (London): 2012 / 2013 (4 months from I-130 petition to visa in hand)

I-751 #1- April 2015 [Denied]

April 2015 : I-751 Joint filing package sent fedex next day 09:00am from UK ($lots - thanks).
Jan 2017: Notification that an interview has been scheduled at a local office. Bizarrely still no RFE...
Jan 2017: 2hr wait, then interview terminated before it began, due to moving my ID to another state 2 wks prior. New interview 'in a few months...maybe.'   Informed them that divorce proceedings are underway, but not finalised at this time.
March 2017: An Interview was scheduled - marked as no-show as they didn't actually send out a notification of interview. FML
April  2017: Filed an official complaint with the ombudsman, and have requested Senator & Congressman assistance
August 2017: Interview - switched to a (finalised) divorce waiver. Told that decision will be made that afternoon, but no problems foreseen with my case.
October 2017: Letter of Denial received - reason given as 'I-751 petition was not properly filed'. Discovered ex-spouse made false allegations to USCIS in 2015. No opportunity given to review & refute allegations  - contrary to USCIS policy.

I-751 #2 - Oct 2017 - Mar 2021[Denied]

October 2017: Within 72hrs of receiving denial notice, a new waiver I-751, divorce decree & $680 cheque, sent to Vermont via FedEx overnight 9am priority.
Dec 2019: Filed FOIA request for full A# file
Feb 2020: FOIA request completed - entire A# file received as a .PDF; 197 pages fully redacted, and 80 partially redacted. Don't waste your time!
March 2021: I-751 #2 denied for lack of evidence. No RFE, no interview, and evidence in previous I-751 not reviewed - contrary to policy. Huge errors in adjudication.

N-400 - Feb 2018 - Apr 2021 [Denied]

February 2018: N-400 filed online.  $725 paid to the USCIS paperwork wastage fund

February  2019: Interview - cancelled after a four hour wait due to 'missing paperwork' on their end. Promised Expedited reschedule.

March 2021: Interview letter received, strangely dated after I-751 denial. No I-751 interview conducted. N-400 interview and test passed, given 'cannot make a decision at this time' paper due to the ongoing I-751 nightmare...

April 2021: N-400 denial received citing recent I-751 denial as basis for ineligibility, even though it should have been a combo interview 🤯

I AM JACK'S COMPLETE LACK OF SURPRISE

Service Motion - March 2021 [Sent via FedEx & COMPLETELY IGNORED by USCIS]

March 2021: Service Motion request sent overnight addressed direectly to field office director, requesting urgent review and re-opening, based on errors in adjudication - citing USCIS policy, AFM and memorandums as basis for errors. This was completely ignored by USCIS.

 I-751 #3 - June 2021 - Jan 2024 [Denied]

IT'S GROUNDHOG DAY

June 2021: I-751 #3 (30+lbs/5000 pages of paperwork) & another $680 sent to USCIS via FedEx ($300+..thanks) ....

June 2021: Receipt issued, card charged, biometrics waived, infopass scheduled for I-551 stamp number ten.....

Feb 2022: RFIE (no, not an RFE, a Request For Initial Evidence) received, for copies of the divorce paperwork that they already have 😑

July 2022: Infopass for I-551 stamp number eleven.....

August 2023: Infopass for I-551 stamp number twelve....

January 2024: Denial received, ignoring the overwhelming majority of the filing, abundance of evidence, and refutation of a provably false allegation. The denial also contradicts itself in multiple places, as if it was written by someone with an IQ <50.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2024: FML. Seriously. I'm done.

Thanks for the replies, I did just check the medical letter and it states it clearly on there too. Now I am wondering which ones I actually do need and don't need to get! Might be a good time to make an appointment with the travel nurse and go over the documents and my records.

No you do not need her original documents. I had a badly dont photocopy of my joint sponsors birth certificate and W-2 and tax return and some pay stubs. It was accepted fine. You are not required to take other peoples original documents, only your own. The I-864 must have an original signature though.

Your medical cannot be booked until you receive your LND case number which will be the next thing you receive after NOA2.

Assuming you are over 18 and under 60, you should only be required to have received two MMR shots in your life time, Tdap (or some other versions, i just got that one) within the last 10 years and the flu vaccination between October and March. You will need a copy of your vaccination records to take with you anyway to the medical. They should just print those off for you at the doctors.

Thanks Holly, I booked my medical for March 1st today so not long to go now! I am 25 so think I am pretty much okay although with it being on March 1st will I need the Flu vaccine?

Also having just booked the medical is it best to call them up in a few days before booking travel to ensure they got down the right day and time or is there anyway to check online?

No you cant check online so you would have to call up and double check if you wanted to do that. As for the flu jab, i cant remember if its march 1st or 31st that is the cut off. But it is relatively cheap anyway so if you have to get it there, it would not be much more expensive than if you got it at Boots or Tesco etc.
