Finally!

My passport has arrived through the snow this morning (well done to the couriers), by the time specified.

Since I had to take the dog to check-in at Heathrow, I had to ask a friend to receive it (and arrange that before I went to the courier section at the Embassy). 5 hour trip to and from Heathrow though the snow (and it's only 25 miles). Managed to get through the snowy streets to pick up my passport, though.

And I can go in just 10 days, once the house keys have been picked up by the new owners.

Getting nervous about ours now as my wife is going back to the US this morning so I am staying up to ensure no alarm can fail and she misses the flight! Thought I would take the time to sort out the next step.

I am just about to send back the DS230 Part 1 and 2 as well as the DS-2001, just to confirm all you send back is the forms themselves, no other documents as these are taken with you to the interview?

Also is the address to send the DS230 back to:

Everything seems to confuse me at the moment as it seems everything is happening at once. Oh also how far in advance can medicals be booked and how long after the medical date do interviews usually get scheduled?

You are correct, send just those forms and nothing else. Not sure on the address, send it to the one that is printed on the letter they sent you with the LND number.

You can book your medical for whenever you like. If you want it to be for a few months away, just let them know and they are usually very accommodating. Usually they book for about 2 weeks in advance. If you want sooner, book any that they have then call for cancellations every day. My interview was just short of 6 weeks after my medical. I had two weeks notice and it took just short of a week for my medical results to reach the Embassy because there was a holiday. So it took about 3 weeks for them to actually schedule it from receiving the results.

You need only send DS-230 part 1 and DS-2001 to the Embassy. DS-230 part 2 is not to be sent ahead of the interview. You'll need to bring it with you to the interview.

For DCF, the mailing address is to the Immigrant Visa Unit (24 Grosvenor Square), not to the USCIS office

Thanks for the replies. Just got back from the airport which was not an enjoyable experience, hopefully the last time!

I will hold onto the DS230 Part II and put it in the folder alongside all the other interview documents.

Thank you Holly for the medical information I aim to book it in March so my brother can make the trip to London with me as I'm not good with hospital/surgery environments

You can mail in part 2 if you want to. I did and they just pulled it out at the interview and had me sign it. I did take a spare just in case but i didnt need it.

You can definitely book for March now. You will get your pick of times and dates the earlier you do it.

Try not to worry about the environment. It is absolutely nothing like a doctors surgery. Its very relaxed and its not all white and clinical. The bed they had me sit on looked like antique wood rather than the horrible things you get in hospitals and normal doctors. It just looks like an old Victorian house inside, high ceilings and old features. So please dont worry about it.

Yes...I was taking a good look at it, picturing how awesome it would be if converted to an apartment (which I think it was originally).

My husband went for his medical two days ago and said it was a really nice office. The staff were nice and professional; the office was clean and comfortable. He said it was a million times better than any NHS surgery he'd been to. So don't worry and good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone and especially the comments on the surgery, makes me feel a lot better about perhaps not being passed out for an hour after the blood test! I also might just mail in the part II so I know they have it!

I also just found out I should be able to keep my job in the US and my wife has got a job sorted although I am not sure if I can put my income on the i864 now if I know it is going to continue in America.

That is great news. This means you can definitely use your income on the I-864. The non-USC spouse's income can be used on the I-864 only if it can be shown that that income will continue in the U.S. And it sounds like yours will do just that!

It just occurred to me, obviously my DH will need to take original documents with him to the interview. However, my mother in the US is a joint sponsor and has only sent in copies of her original documents. Does she need to send us the originals, and isn't that awfully risky??

Also, we haven't received the NOA2 letter yet, but can we still go ahead and book a medical?

To be on the safe side, is better have the originals with you.

You can book your medical as long as you have your case number. Without a case number they will not book anything unfortunately.
