Hello everyone.

First of all I want to thank Visa Journey for all the information and help that they give to us to go through all the visa and Adjustment of Status process it’s been really helpful.

My name's Alejandra I'm from Colombia and I been happily married for 6 months, unfortunately all the process for the AOS has been taking good time and now I'm really concern, money is looking tight and my husband is working really hard to keep all the bills paid on time. It’s hard to be strong and happy when the love of your life has to struggle with bills because you’re unable to help. (We don’t know many people around home, no public transportation close by and no car for me).

I guess I just want some advice, we live in GA and we applied already for the AOS but we’re still waiting, It’s really hard start again your life even if your madly in love, when the opportunities to get a job or car are limited. (I guess I’m just depressed).

In Colombia I was on the last year of my career (Industrial Engineer) and I have experience working as an administrative assistant, I’m 24 years old and I been always self-motivated but when it doesn’t depend on you to be productive and all you can do is wait is really hard to keep the “smile”.

By last I would like to offer my help to Hispanic people who need advices with translation and guide on the process and soon I’ll update my timeline for other people to see it.

Thanks one more time and hope everybody have a bless day with the love one.

This time of waiting as you are experiencing is really tough. Keep it one day at a time and start looking at jobs online so that when you are able to work you are ready. Get your resume updated. You may want to do some volunteering and that will give you contacts that can assist you in your job search.

An example of searching for jobs is looking at http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/ga. Pick the town you are closest to and look at the jobs available.

I wish you the best. And welcome to the UDA

Hi Alejandra,

A while back someone from Colombia posted her experience in one of the COLOMBIANOS VIVIENDO EN LOS EE.UU. threads about working from home as a Bilingual Tech Support, check the last post at the very bottom (#2460). It may be an option for you to get started especially since transportation is not accessible right now.
