Renewing passport

Ok I am pretty sure my thinking is right on this deal, but it would be nice for someone to confirm this to me.

My husaband and I are traveling back to the UK in March next year and at this time he has 6 months left on his passport. His dad seems to think he needs to have at least 6 months left on his passport at the time of travel because of the Visa etc. I knew we had to have 6 months + when receiving the visa for him which he had no problem, but I just want to be sure that we don't need to go ahead and renew the passport b4 we travel next year!

I don't think we need to seeing we will only be there a week and will still have 2 months left on his passport at the time of travel.

I am just hoping AOS would hurry the heck up so we don't have to apply for the AP. I am going to wait on that another month b4 applying for the AP!

Ne ways, thanks in advance for all your help!

Hey, I have have a question related to this. Will the MRIV that was stuck in my passport after my interview and stamped at POE need to be transferred to my new passport when I renew it? I have my Green card now(I have an IR-1 visa), but I don't know if immigration need to see the original MRIV when you go back through to the US after a vacation. I'm also in the same position that I will need to renew my passport soon, as I'm going on vacation to the UK next April and my passport expires next July. Hope that makes sense what I just said.

As long as you are a Greencard holder then you do not need a visa to return to the USA.... you just need your Greencard and a valid Passport....

I had my UK passport renewed last year in Washington it only took 2 weeks and they return your old passport to you.... I used my new passport with my Greencard to go Home to Scotland last month... I had no problems what so ever... at Immigration I went in the line for USC/Residents the guy swiped my greencard through the computer asked how long we were out of the country, stamped both my passport and my husbands passport and said welcome Home... took all of 5 mins.

Your siggie says you already have the plastic card in hand.

So, no isue at all of MRIV transfer--the plastic card is readable by holograph-machine.

(seems I also have a gloat-point here: I've left US with less than two months remaining on passport, then renewed it OUTSIDE and re-entered on new one and GC; I guess this may be an "only for Canucks")
