Today the letter came in the mail. What they are requesting is...

A. summit copy of your complete Federal income tax return, as filed with the Internal Revenue Service, for the last year

B. The petitioner/sponsor listed their current income on form I-864 as a amount to be sufficient ; however, no evidence has been summited as proof of evidence.

Summit a letter of employment containing the following:

Dates of emplyoment

nature of job

wages salarry earned , hours worked per week

prospects for future emplyoment pay subs or ohter documentation of pay for the previous 6 months.

c.Summit assets that meet standard listed below obtain joint sponser.

A. I filed around 21k because I missed lots of work due to going to Vietnam (4 months).

The previous 2 years i filed 27k, 28k. This should be sufficient income. I only mailed my W-2 and some pay stubs thinking this would be good enough. SO I need to goto the local irs office and request my income tax return for most recent tax year correct???

And the letter of emplyoment can I just type it myself or does it need to be signed by my employer??? Pay stubs should i just send all the ones I have left i didnt keep all them? Last I have a large sum of money in a cd. I am going to send them the bank statement covering last 12 months.so to conclude I will send them tax returns from the irs office. a letter of employment i type at home. and my cd account info. Plus all pay subs i can locate. This should be enough evidence ??? or should i get a sponser too. one last thing its just me, my wife, and our daughter. Thanks VJ members for your input on this matter.

I was there for no more than 20 mins including the wait time.

Depends on how busy the office is.

A copy of your tax return will cost $57, and will take approximately two months to obtain. You can't just walk into your local IRS office and get a copy.

USCIS doesn't need a copy of your tax return. They will accept, and actually prefer, an IRS transcript of your return. Those are free, and can be obtained in less than two weeks (usually). I don't know if you can get them from your local IRS office. They're usually generated by the IRS service center in Kentucky. You can order a tax return transcript online here:

Your employer must complete the letter of employment. It usually has to be written on company letterhead stationary. Ask your HR department. They probably deal with this sort of request all the time.

You should have read the I-864 instructions. You would have known that a W2 and some pay stubs would not be sufficient.
