Hi

Just received my boyfriend's signed fiance letter of intent and G325A. He signed the forms using only his first initial and last name! For example Chris Van Der Berg he wrote it as C Berg..in some sort of scribble...

This doesn't seem right to me and I would kick his butt right now if he wasn't in a different continent!

Please any advice?

I don't understand what the issue is, did he sign it in his normal signature?

He doesn't need to sign his full name a certain, specific way. In fact, if this is his normal signature then that is exactly what he should do, especially if he signed it the same way on his passport...shouldn't that match too?

Good luck

A signature is any mark intended to authenticate.

He could have written an "X" if he wanted to; it would still be valid.

I am not sure how his passport looks and how it is signed. Must it match? I guess we will just leave it as is.

In some countries people do not even sign their names as their signature. It makes it harder to forge that way. My husband does not sign his name. His signature is basically a set of kanji characters and what looks like the first letter of his name and a line coming from it. He signs everything this way, and we have had no issues with it.

Sometimes people smile and say, "Oh, he is drawing a picture!" Once a guy from the airport came to the house to deliver lost baggage, and he told my husband, "No! You have to use English!" My husband just chuckled and said, "Don't worry. I am." as he printed his name(in English :P) on the line next to his signature.

I guess I don't understand why you are so upset, if it is his signature then it's his signature. They aren't going to call in handwriting experts to authenticate it

Good luck

I actually joked with my guy about this because his signature looks like an M and a solid line. I think as long as all of the forms match, you'll be fine. People have different signatures, it's OK.

Just so you know, my fiance's signature bears no resemblance at all to her name. I mean, it's this crazy artistic scribble that I suppose IS her signature.

I agree, he should sign that form the same way he signs anything else, a check, his passport. I doubt anyone is going to analyze his signature.
