I understand that a lot of well intended people here have enjoyed their anonymity, however, the downside is that this place has been a magnet for all kinds of outsiders who are here to either infiltrate this immigration website with their own anti-immigration propaganda, or just people with malicious intent.

i have no idea by who? its not a big deal to me. i even stated so...but, it got removed too. i just want to give steven credit for calling it.

For calling what? That someone was invited to VJ? Shall we have everyone who was invited to VJ stand up and identify themselves? The ones that haven't, as yet, of course. Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? Or did you just want to passive-aggressively accuse that member of something?

no i wanted to give steven the credit he is due for calling it..that people are here for the sole purpose of causing disruption. speaking of passive aggressive. your response...even though you weren't the mod that deleted it. almost sounds like you feel like you've been caught out for being in on something.

yeah steven. look closer to home.

btw kathryn: it would help a lot in keeping things off the board, if the mod team wasn't so militant when addressing people in pm. ;)

Oooooooh, you must be on the "Habitual Offenders List"!

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

How were they causing disruption?

The +1 feature has become more a popularity contest and less about the value of someone's post in adding to the discussion. If instead, the question was worded, "Was this post helpful?" that would be more specific as to what people are voting on, so you could say, 'yes' to post that you may not agree with as far as what they've stated, because they actually added value to the discussion.

We actually agree on something. Not the FB but the +1 button.

No less revealing about someone's personality than having a picture of their foreign bride sitting on top of their lap.

Not hardly. VJ members FB pages have been used against them on here and in this most vile and sickening ways possible.

The P&R forum doesn't exactly promote activity. It's fun to have intelligent discussions about the important topics, but it's nearly impossible without some insult flinging and personal attacks if you dare to disagree. From what I've seen, anyway, but that could just be me.

That goes both ways. Iv'e seen you on both ends of the spectrum.

Just to clear up this mole hill before it becomes a mountain . . . the member in question was invited by another member already on Visa Journey to join the site and share his knowledge and experience. He was not 'officially' invited by anyone in administration or moderation, he was not invited as an outside agitator, he was not invited to cause problems. He joined Visa Journey the same way you or anyone else joined - because of an interest in and personal experience with US immigration matters and a belief that he could be of use by sharing his experience and knowledge.

The posts involved were removed because they quoted TOS violating posts - nothing secretive or conniving or nefarioius. It is what is done regularly when a post quotes another post that violates TOS. Global moderators do not have the ability to edit out TOS violating quotes from a post so the whole post is removed.

For what it is worth, the most disruptive individuals on Visa Journey - most of whom are on Moderation's 'Habitual Offenders List' - are all individuals who have been here for some time and who joined because of their own personal immigration journeys. In some cases they are still on their own immigration journeys and in others they are finished but have chosen to remain on Visa Journey. If you wish to accuse someone of causing the most disruptions on Visa Journey, I would suggest you look 'closer to home' rather than trying to target 'outside insurgents'.

So, please stop trying to make this into something that it isn't.

'Habitual Offenders List' <----- I'm going to bet that none of the posters other than Rob that came into the RUB forum for no other reason than to troll and start a flame war in there aren't on that list. And yes one of those threads was started again in that regional forum not less than two months ago. The obvious flame thread was closed after several reports, but none of the non RUB members involved in said thread were suspended.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Insurgents, militant... and this isn't even an Iraq war thread.

Its a bit frightening how we have started to adopt this vocab in normal use isn't it. Someone tagged our office last night and I couldn't help but call him a terrorist. Of course he is just some silly kid causing a bit of property damage.

Absolutely. It's the atmosphere of that forum, unfortunately. Sure, an odd thread goes by where even though people disagree, it remains mostly civil. But that's not the norm.

I take it then that moderation is unwilling to disclose this site's secret affiliations with underground leftist political groups?

Shame, shame.
