NVC & DOS Notifications

Hello Everyone,

We recieved our NOA2 (YAY!)for our K-1 visa just recently, on 05/31/12.

What I'm wondering is about notifications for NVC recieved, NVC left, Montreal Consulate recieved?

Do K-1 applicants recieve any notifications whatsoever to let us know where our approved petition is? E-mail, snail mail? I'm trying to gauge our packet 3 arrival (I know it's about a month) and was hoping not to have to call NVC or DOS every day trying to find out where we stand...

Please advise!

Thanks,

Stacy & Tom

well you have to call NVC to see if they receive your case and give you your new case number normally it takes 15-20 business days for NVC so wait until that time to call them they wont send you an email unless you email them.....at this stage its a calling game...good luck

I received my NOA2 on 05/14/2012. My NVC received and processed my information today 06/04/2012. Which is 15 business days or 21 calendar days.

Hi 3-4D,

Did you recieve any type of notification at all (an e-mail perhaps?) from Vermont to tell you when the petition left USCIS and was sent to NVC? Likewise, do you expect to get any notification from NVC when it's sent to Montreal?

We just received our NOA2  and I have the same questions...will information (numbers to NVC etc) be on the actual letter? Are we notified as the package makes it way through the process or do we have to call and track it ourselves?

The NOA2 is the notification telling you your petition was approved and sent to NVC (even if it may say on it that it is sent to the embassy... it ALWAYS goes to NVC first). You don't actually knows when they send it exactly, and you don't receive notification when NVC receives it or send it to the consulate. The only way to find out is calling them and ask them (if you want, that's optional). Again, you don't receive notification when the consulate receives your file.

NVC sends a letter to the US citizen saying they received an approved petition and what is the new case number. Some members have reported not receiving that letter though...

To resume, in normal processing, the notifications you receives go like this:

- the US citizen receives the NOA2 by mail

- the US citizen received the NVC letter by mail

- the foreign fiance receives the packet 3 instructions.

Calling NVC allows you to track your case, and have your case number earlier than if you were waiting for the NVC letter, that's all. :)

THANK YOU! That's exactly the answer we were looking for! That information certainly helped. :)

I did not receive a notification. I just kept calling. Funny thing is I called on the 15th day early in the morning, NVC told me they haven't received it. Called back within 15minutes later because I was curious again, then the nice gentleman gave me the case number

Good luck.
