Doesn't that drive you nuts when people say that? It's funny to try and explain to someone...you will say...well you have to do this and this...and they just nod their head and say yes but at least he will be able to come home with you after the wedding...lol...Although I will admit I used to think the same way before I met Anghel and starting readying about what all you have to go through.

Oh yeah? It's been 11 months since we filed for AOS. Instantaneous? I could have given birth quicker.

All rights and priveleges of a US citizen? How about constitutional rights? Is that a big enough category of missing rights?

Come and go as you please? As long as you don't stay too long - they might not let you back in.

No worry about law enforcement coming to arrest you? Sure - commit a crime and see if local law enforcement are the only ones at your preliminary hearing.

This guy is a moron. Unfortunately much of the American public believes what uninformed talking heads like this guy say.

for us it's been 14 months since we filed for AOS...and it's been a total of 22 months that we've had paperwork of some sort *pending* with USCIS.

I think it's well and good that the government is going after people with phoney marriages, but then why does Bush and a large number of members of Congress want to make millions of people that crossed the border illegally or overstay their visas legal and give them a shot at U.S. citizenship. Seems hypocritical to me that marrying to get here is bad, but if you got here some other way we will give you a pass.

At least the people that married to get here illegally had a medical exam and criminal back ground check.

As Bush said in some speech I watched earlier this year. The people he wants to allow to stay have lived here for many years, work (pay taxes), are good people and have family here. Therefore he wants to cut them a break if they meet certain requirements and fork over some cash.

I think the medical/criminal background check is a bit funny. As far as public safety and public health I was at much less risk in both those areas in Canada than I am here. But I do understand why they do these things. I guess there are enough diseased people and criminals in the US that they don't want to bring in more.

And I don't mean to say American's are more diseased or criminally inclined than Canadians. Canadia is much smaller population wise from the US. Less people = less sick people to get infected from.

i disagree with what bush said in that regard. and all that snow in canada probably helps keep the germs killed off

You're right, we don't go out much either so there is less chance for germs to spread. I don't remember what Bush said exactlly in his speech (but it was very warm and toasty).

The Canadian thing is sort of funny, because I'm not convinced that my parents and neighbors really believe it's a separate country. 'You can get there with a driver's license and a birth certificate.' 'Your sister went to Toronto on a trip and they accepted American money.' 'Why does he need a work permit? Illegals don't.' 'Are you sure you researched the process right?'

You're killing me. My mom is the same way about Mexico, since we live in CA.
