I'd be careful about what kicking anybody out. The Russian lady could simply bring a false claim of sexual assualt against this poor guy and the miltia will have him locked up for days before they let him out. Who are they going to believe? My ex-wife TRIED to fabricate a DV... she only succeeded in a "Domestic Disturbance, no evidence of violence found..." call by the local police.

It was at that moment I decided divorce was an immediate and necessary option. I wasn't going to risk having a trumped-up DV on my record, nor having to pay mucho $$$$ to defend myself from one, either

Yup, that was it. We were having an arguement, and I didn't want her to see me locking the checkbook and credit cards in the car, so I closed the garage door first while she was standing outside the garage.

She didn't come to the front door, ring the door bell, knock on it, come around back, the back door was open, nothing like that...

She simply marched off, three doors down the street, to where one of our neighbors is a policeman and his patrol car was parked out front, and putting on her best "helpless Russian girl" pouty-face apparently told him: "He throws me away from house!".

It's a good point that none of us really know what happened. I can tell you that as a policeman who responded to domestic calls, (in the Air Force, once upon a time) it is very difficult, even as the cop, to determine what happened.

I won't even take a stab at this situation. All I can say is that if a woman says something happened, the cops have no choice but to take the matter a little further and investigate (a.k.a. generate a report that ends up having both parties in court and more often than not having the man hire a lawyer and spend extra money) the matter.

Bottom line: kiss her @$$ when she's pissed, but then get what you need or want later.

Oh excuse me, you don't know about all the other friends who were "coaching" her about the finer aspects of immigration, like how to file fraudulent documents with the USCIS... that was ~her~ help... and I have no doubt they were coaching her on "how to file a DV claim to get a free ride from the USCIS" as well...

The police told me they have no choice but to INVESTIGATE. And their finding was "domestic disturbance, no evidence of violence by either party".

They told us to separate for the evening. They told us if we wanted to go at it again at 8:01 AM the next morning we were free to do so, but there would be no further contact that evening.

They gave us BOTH information on how to request a "domestic restraining order" against the other party.

They said if there was any evidence of violence someone WOULD have been arrested, and as Slim says, both parties wind up in court, I'd have needed to wind up hiring a lawyer to defend myself.

I'm not expecting anyone to take sides. I could care less at this point anyway, but the point was, they ARE smart enough to know that filing a false claim IS an option, and I know another guy this happened to as well.

Because of his advice, I immediately thereafter bought a digital voice recorder and the next time she tried anything, I switched it on and recorded our conversations, in case it would be needed for "evidence".

Amazingly the situation cooled quickly. Gooooo figure!

And I marched off quickly to a divorce attorney because I wasn't going to spend $1,000's of dollars defending myself against a manufactured and fraudulent DV claim.

This was a struggle with some of my wife's friends. Fortunately, my wife is not like this. For some reason this seem to be acceptable behavior for SOME Slavic women. The culture does not lend itself to much in the way of courtesy towards the opposite sex. It is rarely given or received. I have found exceptions (my wife)...but not many. You are looking in the wrong country if this behavior bothers you.

# 1. Yes, Russians can be a little rude by American Standards. I think it is not so much they want to be rude they are just very direct and say things as they are instead of trying to spare peoples feelings. It is a lot different than here but in a lot of ways it is a better way to do things. If things like that go against what someone can accept they really should be looking somewhere else. However showing a lack of courtesy as described in the opening posts to me is a good sign the gal is not the right one. I think she really just doesn't have a lot of feelings for someone she should be totally enthralled with.

# 2. Yes, you can call someone a dumb whatever in a forum and not have to worry about getting punched out but it is far better when someone disagrees with someones ideas and not their person. Anyone who feels a need to call someone a dumb whatever probably does not have the patience to succeed with a foreign bride anyway.

# 3. There are two sides to any story. I have often heard a story that almost has you crying for the person and then heard the otherside which was far worse. I think it is not good to judge anyone by one side unless the way they tell the story is admitting they are a creep.

# 4. Size is not important. The fact that the guy weighs twice as much as the gal has no bearing. The worst gal I was ever involved with weighted 100 pounds and I saw her make 250 pound guys shake in their boots. Once this gal had her teeth in you they were set more than a lions would be. I spent years trying to get away from her. When I filed for a PFA they had to have 7 cops surround her at the hearing to keep her under control. I had to hide out for a year and a half watching my rear view mirror every day when I went home from work and riding around until there were no cars at all behind me. Humm and what was her nationality? Guess, yep. Second generation though.
