It is different in each country. If you do not currently live in the country, you can contact their embassy for details.

The first step would be to contact the Egyptian police if the beneficiary is currently in Egypt.

If the beneficiary is currently in the US, contact the Egyptian embassy.

If the petitioner has lived in countries other than Egypt for over 6 months at a time, he/she will need police certificates from those countries too. The US does it's own background checks, so no police certificates are needed from the US, even if the beneficiary has lived in the US previously.

So it's best to contact the embassy. Ok thanks for the info!

Jenny

hey!!! i responded to u in the NVC thread, but like i said, i know my hubby went and put in the request at a local police station in Cairo with his ID card (will ask him specifically where first chance i get to speak with him) and was told to pick it up after three days... his certificate had his picture on it along with his fingerprints... and i know he told them it was for immigration purposes and they needed to know who to make it out to and he just used "American Embassy" for receiver name... i'll get back to u on this, but basically a police certificate clearance (PCC) is needed for every country lived in for more than 6 months... its seems simple enough to obtain in EGypt... hubby got 2 of them... the certificate expires after 3 months so we got a new one after the one we submitted to NVC...
