What is described in this post is a CR1 visa. Lots of people misunderstand things but a K3 visa holder is not entitled to a social security card to be issued within weeks of arrival, as this poster indicates.

I actually have seen a couple I-129F petitions get forwarded ahead of the I-130 and sent on to Consulates abroad lately but they are a fluke. In each case, the couple already decided they wanted the CR1 instead anyway.

If only one petition was filed, this is a CR1 case, for certain.

The best answer as to time to travel has been given. It's usually six months from the date of visa issue but check the expiration date on the visa and make sure you ENTER the USA.....BEFORE that date.

one question for you,

is that true that once you enter to the USA with a CR-1, you cannot

travel to other country after a year+ 1 day after your entry?

I will appreciate your comments.

Thats interesting, I have not seen a K3 for a loong time.

You can leave on the next flight.

The US Government can not make you come back.

You are free to travel anytime after you enter the USA but you must either maintain your permanent resident status in the USA or lose it. There is no finite limit of six months outside the USA or "IN" any other country.

Google "maintaining permanent resident status US" for the details.

...thank you, for your help!...you got it!

I am asking because maybe I would have to return to my country because some properties. But I wouldn't stay so long out the USA.

Thanks again!

Most places K3 are closed now, ppl who were in K3 were being put into CR1.

Please stop perpetuating this myth. Nobody is ever "in a K3". They simply file two petitions. If the second one (I-129F for spouse) were to manage to LIVE on through NVC, they would have the opportunity to apply for a K3 visa.

Filing the first petition begins a CR1 or IR1 visa process that has a chance of being completed. Nothing is being changed.

Filing the second petition begins a parallel process that has next to zero chance of surviving to to point of applying for a K3 visa.
