I haven't seen a single person disparage that choice and I would hazard a guess that many people if not most here would approve. I have seen people LOL at the arrogance you give along with it. Modesty and whatnot generally are supposed to accompany such gestures. Likkkkeeee most of us don't talk about when we do such things if we're religious. We also do not tend to mention if it was done before marriage and then say that is appropriate (again if religion is a basis for behavior).

Ok, thanks for explaining. It would make more sense to me that the Moroccan men who can communicate in English well would be the ones to make use of an English forum like this one, but you're definitely right that there have been a lot of communication difficulties with Moroccan men here before.

That's why I asked if he learned it from his fiancee. I've generally heard it said to originate in San Francisco, and I did learn it as a kid but I also learned it from people from Oakland. Las Vegas is filled with CA transplants. I haven't heard anyone actually use hella in a long time unless they were specifically trying to recall the wonder years of the late 1980s-early 1990s.

Well I must be out of the loop on many slang words and I just logged on and I said "hella" and my 14 year old daughter said.......MOMMMMMMMM and just laughed and I said what??? I said what the heck does that mean, and she said everyone is using that word at her school these days. Gosh where did time go LOL?
