Now, how did I know that?.....(top 2 destinations for soon-to-be illegal Colombians = Miami, followed by NJ)...and it sounds like mom wanted to join up with dad and live happily ever after...and you would have shelled out for airline tickets, then wondered where they went after arriving in either destination....

this has all the indicators of the typical Colombian visa scam....I hope that I have enlightened you enough to avoid, at the very least, shelling out your hard earned money for naught....

I don't know what the potential immigrant's intentions were, nor do I care really, but just as a side note, no one here in this forum will ever know if anyone qualifies for a visa or not, no one is a mind reader and no one will know what the CO will decide on.

With that said...

TO ANSWER THE OP'S QUESTION: Any child under the age of 18 will need a recent (less than 30 days) notarized authorization signed by the parent who is not traveling or the DAS will not let her leave the country. It's that simple and yes, they're very strict about it. No authorization = no traveling outside of Colombia.

thanks you i understood that i was just wondering if she needed her fathers conset as well. but since i posted this a few weeks ago. all communication with them have stopped so i guess my question no longer stands
