n and ñ difference

Hi VJers, this is my first time to post as we are new members in this site.

we were just wondering because we just recently sent our k1 petition and my fiance already received the NOA1

and what was written there in my family name is Ybanez instead of Ybañez, we are wondering if we need to call them to change it to ñ as this will appear in almost all my documents even on the form we submitted and letter of intent it is in ñ.. hope someone can give us an advice about this.. thank you

There is the section to list name in native letters... it this where you are talking about? You should be able to fix this at interview with consulate. This is when fiancee has passport and birth cirtificate and they can make adjustment here. However the NOA1 797 you receive also states to call if there is error, so you may want to call to see what they say just in case.

it doesnt matter. my name is MA. (the shortened name for maria, with a dot) but will all papers fr uscis/nvc its spelled as MA (no dot) - - - no punctuations across the board. i asked it abouut it at the local dhs and ssa offices here and punctuations didnt matter...

It's not an issue. That's the way they spell it because the English alphabet don't have ñ. My wife and some other VJers with  ñ in their names, middle and last names, don't have any problem about it.

I also had a problem with my name spelling before and I changed it, It take 8 months for me to wait until the local statistics office in my hometown changed it.
