Hi,

I am working on our I864 and since my son still lives at home and he was willing to let us count his salary. I am just 1000 short shy of the required 4 family limit.

Any suggestions on how to present it to someone when asking to cosponser? Any advice and good thoughts sent our way would be awesome.

Hugs,

Tamz

I would think your best bet would be family. It's difficult to find people who are willing to sign themselves up to be legally responsible for someone else's spouse, even if they divorce, for years and years and years.

Also don't forget you can include assets if you have any.

Yep. I asked my dad, when I was but a poor college student, eating oatmeal for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Or maybe I just love oatmeal.

It helps when the person you're asking knows your husband. And thinks he's cool and worthwhile, trustworthy, and worth sticking your neck out for on some paperwork that makes no sense to civilians who have never delved into immigration-land.

Asked my parents too, luckily enough they had met DH prior to sponsoring him. I was working for an NGO at the time in Tunis, so my salary was not even in USD. Talk about being WAAAAAAY under the cut off.

Working in Turkmenistan, spouse is with me.

Dealing with the NVC process...

Check out Timeline for questions :D
