Thought I'd attach a photo for some opinions. I'd guess we have about 200 pages (eek, I know). Shall I reduce the amount e-tickets? I know they're not primary evidence and all mine are standby tickets anyway. Also sending 19 colour photos from various locations England, Cali, Italy etc. Also when the guide says put passport photos in a 'bag' what kind of bag is it refering to? Is there something I can buy at the post office tommorow (I'm in Utah at the moment).

Many thanks! Claire

PS can someone point out how I upload the photo..having some trouble

200 pages sounds extremely excessive. There's really no need for the petition to be that big of a package! All you need to do is prove that you've met once in the last two years, prove the USC *is* a USC, and that you're free and willing to marry.

To prove that, all you need is a birth certificate/passport pages (all), a couple of tickets/boarding passes/passport stamps, a few pics, and the letters of intent. All of that, plus the few forms you need to fill out ... shouldn't be 200 pages ;)

They suggest, in the guides, using a simple ziploc bag for the photos. Something to keep them all together, nothing fancy. I paperclipped the passport photos to the G-235A and had no issues.

For the passport photos, I used the clear, plastic CD holders that had adhesive on the back (and on the front to close it) and then I placed that on a sheet of paper, and placed the photo inside of it. It looked very neat, and way better than a plastic bag. :star:

My entire submission was 42 PDF pages (I didn't need to include any divorce decrees or anything for children though) and I was approved with no RFEs about a week before it hit 5 months. I've attached an image of what I did for the passport-style photo and the evidence of our relationship. I put the photos in a ziploc bag, and then used packaging tape to stick the bag onto a plain white sheet of paper. I had printed on the paper what the contents were and on the bag in case anything got lost or out of order. I had read somewhere that this was the preferred method.

Also, when you upload a photo to a post, you have to click "browse" then "attach this file." if you just click browse and then reply, it won't be uploaded.

Thanks everyone for replying. I might check out good ol Walmart tonight for some suitable bags. Think I'm gonna ditch the Skype logs. Is the reason this petition takes so long to be approved because people mail in these huge packets? Obviously we don't want to submit too little? Are bank statements showing I've been in Utah/Cali neccessary? Only got about 10 pages showing various transactions. I'm just glad we have it ready now and whether it's too much or not we at least know that we have what they are looking for in the package. Very happy we didn't blow thousands on an attorney as well, this site is extremely useful. Thanks again and I'll let you know when we get our NOA1!

The reason it takes so long is because there is such a huge back log. When you send your papers in they go into a box and then do not see the light of day for another 4-5 months when they are pulled out put into the system and approved after their checks are done.

For my evidence of meeting/relationship, we had met in person twice and then took a side trip together. I included my flight itinerary to meet him showing flight/airline confirmation numbers, his flight itinerary to meet me, the joint itinerary showing we've traveled together, the hotel confirmation, 5 photos of us together, a screen shot of facebook with a photo of both of us showing both of our family/friends commenting, and a screen shot of my email box showing emails received from him. There was no more than 10 pages for this section.

Mine was like a total of 112 pages (20 of them to prove that my fiancee was disabled and could not work), and the majority of the pages were photocopies of evidence of our relationship:

  • 30+ photocopies of my passport, even though they were blank!
  • 20+ pages of my bank statements (credit & debit)
  • 10+ photocopies of airline tickets, hotels, musicals & WWE shows we went to
  • 5 picutres of us from each trip, signed and dated from both of us

What I am trying to say is even though 200 pages can seem a little OTT, sending too much evidence is better than sending too little, getting an RFE (or an RFCS in my case ) and then waiting to see if you have corrected the RFE.

Just dont forget to enclose a check for $340 (NOT $350, $330, £240, $300.........$340!!!!) :bonk:
