Getting married in NY with non immigrant visa status

Hello

i am living in NYC under an L1 visa. I would like to marry my girlfriend which is now here under a B2 visa.

Can i do that?what documents do i need?

To change her status i know that she will need then to go back to our home country and ask for an L2 visa, that is not a problem. I just need to know if we can get married here.

Yes, 2 foreign nationals can get married in the US. Every state has different requirements as far as what documents are needed & what procedure you would have to follow. If you are thinking of marrying in NYC then contact city hall. Also, check with your country's US embassy to ask about how to register your marriage abroad.

You obviously can't stay in the US permanently since neither of you are citizens/LPR, but you certainly can have a destination wedding here.

06/28/12 - NOA2 announced on status check.

06/29/12 - NVC received case learned on 07/2/12.

07/09/12 - NVC Casefile Number and IIN Issued.

07/16/12 - Receive and Sent DS-3032 via email.

Congrats! Im not sure what documents you have or anything. But i wanted to suggest Philadelphia PA if you have any trouble in NYC. I know in Philadelphia you dont need to be citizens or have social security cards or anything, just passport and birth certificate. My husband and i actually went to do it (I was on VWP a the time) so we were actually in the City Hall and i dont think anybody waiting was a citizen so there should be no issues regarding that. We didnt marry there in the end though, we did it in the UK the year after.
