Good news ... Case completed on 6/20 and interview date assigned today (6/25)!

Bad news ... The interview is not for another 2 months

At least there isn't uncertainty of knowing the date ... and no more calling NVC :dancing:

Any pointers on how to try rescheduling the interview earlier for India?

Thanks everyone for your help so far!

hi guys - got a question for you. How long (ball park) is NVC stage taking? I got my NOA2 11 June 2012. Case is still not at NVC, called today... nothing.

I am considering adjusting status, I am in the US now. My wife is US Citizen and I am here on visa waiver. My plan was to come over for the birth of our baby and return to the UK in August for visa interview etc and then return to the US with my green card. However, the NOA2 was delayed and it has put the timetable way out. If I do Adjustment of Status, I can have a work authorisation in 90 day's time , and won't have to go back to the UK. I need to get work authorisation ASAP.

Before anyone tells me I can't switch status, that is a myth and It is completely fine to switch status on visa waiver program. A number of lawyers have told me this. Also, whilst I have not entered the US with intent to stay (I wanted to return but the process was delayed), it doesn't matter if you entered with immigrant intent. That is outweighed by my need to be with my need to be with my wife and baby.

What the lawyers are also telling me is that NVC stage is very very busy at the moment and I should adjust status instead. Lawyers will make money if I adjust status, so I am not sure to beleive their warning of the lengthy process of going the conventional route.

I would be grateful for your estimates of how long do you think it will take for me to get to interview stage in London from here?

Thanks guys

Sorry, don't know anything about AOS, or immigration from the UK. but I had to respond because my NOA2 date is also June 11th! Like Saylin said, September is a good bet if we get everything together quickly, from the timelines I've seen. :). Good luck! It makes me want to sing, Wake me up when September ends... Haha

Once the case is shipped and received by the consulate/embassy in India, I'd suggest contacting the consulate/embassy (either through calling or email) and see if you can get an earlier date. Good luck.

Congrats! :)

I think Mumbai consulate may allow you to postpone your interview date but will not allow to schedule it earlier. You also have to consider the fact in your mind that lot of Indians get married every year in November, December and January months. And rightnow lot of I-130 applicants are in line for an interview, so chances very less to schedule your date earlier. Having said that you can definitely try and it won't hurt at all :) Share your feedback with others so it will help others as well. Good luck!

Bad news ... The interview is not for another 2 months

Congrats to u

I'm on the same boat as u are, I did receive an e-mail today with an interview date which is after 2 months exactly

The funny thing is that hubby has already booked a trip for both of us the very next day of the interview and this is exactly what I was fearing. I'm not sure if the embassy would give him his passport the same day or after few days, we are not risking that so he's gotta make a lot of phone calls tomorrow to postpone this trip by a week or so :S
