Woo hoooo! 2 weeks today until our Interview.

Just to be sure, we have:

DHL confirmation letter

Interivew letter

Original docs of everything we submitted

More proof of evidence

Am I forgetting anything?

I think I'm going to have butterflies for the next 2 weeks straight. Actually, until we get through the POE. Then, I can relax. It's not even nerves, just sheer excitement!!!

Don't forget your passport! You also need 2 passport-style pictures. And your medical results are needed too.

Okay all so I got my case number's on Friday. Any idea how long until I can start paying my money?

The AOS bill should be invoiced this week sometime. For the IV bill, you need to submit the DS-261 online first.

Yes, it's quite possible they reviewed your IV package. And if it's approved, along with the AOS package, then your case can be complete already. They don't send out case complete emails to non-EP folk, so you need to call to confirm this. CALL CALL CALL!

hi guys - got a question for you. How long (ball park) is NVC stage taking? I got my NOA2 11 June 2012. Case is still not at NVC, called today... nothing.

I am considering adjusting status, I am in the US now. My wife is US Citizen and I am here on visa waiver. My plan was to come over for the birth of our baby and return to the UK in August for visa interview etc and then return to the US with my green card. However, the NOA2 was delayed and it has put the timetable way out. If I do Adjustment of Status, I can have a work authorisation in 90 day's time , and won't have to go back to the UK. I need to get work authorisation ASAP.

Before anyone tells me I can't switch status, that is a myth and It is completely fine to switch status on visa waiver program. A number of lawyers have told me this. Also, whilst I have not entered the US with intent to stay (I wanted to return but the process was delayed), it doesn't matter if you entered with immigrant intent. That is outweighed by my need to be with my need to be with my wife and baby.

What the lawyers are also telling me is that NVC stage is very very busy at the moment and I should adjust status instead. Lawyers will make money if I adjust status, so I am not sure to beleive their warning of the lengthy process of going the conventional route.

I would be grateful for your estimates of how long do you think it will take for me to get to interview stage in London from here?

Thanks guys

Wait and see how it goes. You always can apply for adjustment even if you have scheduled interview.

Need some advise. Is it a good idea to go with my wife on her interview or should i stay here.

This is all up to you two.

First, you need to check if it's required for the petitioner to be there. In most cases, it's not, but there are a few consulates/embassies where it's practically guaranteed a denial if the USC doesn't show up. If it's not required, you then need to know if the consulate/embassy you're going through is tough on IR-1/CR-1 applicants. This is usually the case in MENA countries. These interviews typically last a few hours, with a lot of questions, and frequently result in AP.

You're going to need to read interview reviews from your wife's country to determine whether you should go or not.

As soon as you get your case number, and if you're prepared with everything ahead of time (so no wasting time on your part), then you could have a case complete within 2-3 weeks. After a case number is assigned, the waiting time in NVC is largely up to you. It's dependent on how fast you pay bills, how fast you send forms and packages, how fast you respond to checklists (if any). Once your case is complete, it's then about 2 months out until your interview. So, I'd say if everything goes quickly for you, you can have an interview in early September.

I wouldn't recommend adjusting status. You have a high chance of getting denied. Although you may not have had the intent to stay when you came to visit, you still have the intent of eventually immigrating (as is clear with your I-130 petition). They might see that you're just trying to circumvent the immigration system and be with your wife faster. If you're then denied for AOS, with the NVC process still being continued on the sidelines, then your eventual interview in London might cause even more problems as they'll see you tried adjusting status but got denied, which will open another can of worms. But, this is all my opinion.

Case complete I can't believe it that it was so quick!! I hope I get the interview soon like BIT did.

I hope everybody quick movement through NVC as long as you keep on your toes it moves quickly good luck VJers

Grats! kicking.gif
