congrats to those moving along...i can't wait to get the nvc phase started.

If you like to get insulated by rude NVC operator then call them everyday  Otherwise based on my experience I would call them once in every 2 or 3 days.

Majority of people have to wait for approx. 2 to 3 weeks to reach their case at NVC and then another 1 to 2 weeks to get case number assigned for your file. You may get things rolling quickly if you are very lucky

Do they both mean that I don't have to bring those to the interview anymore?

Saylin:

Technically, you only need one original/certified copy of the birth and marriage certificates. Photocopies are sent to USCIS, and the originals/certified copies are sent to NVC. You don't bring new certified copies to the interview as the consulate/embassy already has the ones from NVC.

Not to say it's bad to have multiple certified copies (I myself ordered 3 certified copies of my birth certificate, along with my husband who ordered multiple certified copies of his birth certificate and our marriage certificate), but it's not needed in this process (unless it gets lost).

Thanks, Saylin! I'm going to probably do MEP, in which case I will need originals at the interview (since you scan to NVC). I guess that's why I got confused! By the way, I printed out your FAQ sheet! Your info is so helpful! Thank you!!!

And...CONGRATS to everyone who got their interview dates! I'm a few weeks behind y'all I hope! Happy trip planning! Whoo-hoo!

Grats on getting your interview date! kicking.gif

O is referring to original documents (like birth and marriage certificate), whereas Y are other things, just not necessarily originals (like the photocopy of the bio-data page of the passport).

All you should need to bring to the interview:

-interview letter

-passport

-medical results (if not sent directly by the panel physician)

-passport-style pictures (2 required in Canada)

-proof of relationship

I still recommend bringing a copy of everything you've submitted (in addition to what's required). It's always good to have everything, for that "just-in-case" reason.

I highly suggest doing EP as it's cheaper (don't have to send packages!) and easier. So, you just scan your originals/certified copies then bring them to the interview where they'll check it over then return it to you.

And hehe, glad my FAQ was helpful! ^_^

Alright, so since we got our Case numbers, etc yesterday...

I'm trying to follow the Montreal guide, hopefully it's still good. We sent the opt-in email using the referenced template naming me as the person to receive info. Then we logged on to the referenced portal page and filled out the DS-261. As of right now, unable to pay any bills, no other forms showing as able to be filled out/submitted via EP.

Am I missing anything? I feel so discombobulated by the whole process!

hi our case was also approved on may 15,2012 and not yet receive, but i saw dates of approval like may 16 and may 22 and their cases were both at NVC...
