My wife (the USC) was offered a new job. It sounds like she's going to accept the offer. I think it's a permanent job, but I'm not sure. It's a full-time job, the pay is better than at her current job. But I have a question. She mailed her AOS papers to the NVC Friday last week. The new company wants her to start her new job on July 2nd. How does this affect the affidavit of support? Does she have to send in some sort of updates on her job situation?

Sounds like fun stuff! *prepping myself with lots of perserverance and annoying call-making* :innocent:

I recommend to all that you order a few certified copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc. because not only do you need them for the NVC stage, but for the interview as well. I'd rather have too many than too few!

Anyway, glad to see those case numbers! Can't wait until I get mine and get this show on the road! B-)

All you have to do is get an updated I-864 from your wife (once she officially starts the new job), and if possible, a new employment letter and pay stub(s). Then bring this to your interview and explain to the officer that your wife got a new job which pays more (they always like to hear this ;) ) No need to update NVC or anything.

Please keep in mind, it's currently taking NVC around a month from NOA2 to assign case numbers, so you should be getting yours soon.

You have to remember, USCIS and NVC aren't just processing two cases a day. They're dealing with THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of cases a day. Things take time. You need to learn patience, and fast.

Sounds like fun stuff! *prepping myself with lots of perserverance and annoying call-making* :innocent:

Technically, you only need one original/certified copy of the birth and marriage certificates. Photocopies are sent to USCIS, and the originals/certified copies are sent to NVC. You don't bring new certified copies to the interview as the consulate/embassy already has the ones from NVC.

Not to say it's bad to have multiple certified copies (I myself ordered 3 certified copies of my birth certificate, along with my husband who ordered multiple certified copies of his birth certificate and our marriage certificate), but it's not needed in this process (unless it gets lost).

I tried to login to NVC payment site. I got the message

You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information.

That's good news. Please refer to the FAQ post about this ;)

You would just confuse NVC and delay your case :P If she's making sufficient income now at her present job, that's what NVC cares about. You'll probably be out of NVC by the time she starts the new job anyways, so that would really delay your case if you send in a new I-864 to them after your case is closed. Just bring the new I-864 along with an employment letter and a pay stub (if possible) to the interview.
