Just called NVC and we have an interview appointment set for July 18th wooohooo. :dancing::D :D :D:dancing:

Congrats! :dance::dance::dance:

When I try to sign-in to NVC payment portal, it gives me this error message:

"You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."

Does anyone else having the same issue?

What bill are you trying to pay? If it doesn't let you make any electronic payments, it's probably because there is no bill generated yet. Give it a day or 2 and you should be able to access it like normal.

So I have a question/concern on this note...

I took my tax stuff to a CPA for my 2011 taxes (my first time, usually I use those HR Block folks), and he filed me as Head of Household, as I provide all support for my daughter from a previous marriage. He said I can't file as married as spouse is not in country, made no US income and has no legal recourse to the US. So my taxes are just me....will this be an issue? I asked the CPA several times, and he even called some IRS CPA hotline and they reconfirmed the Head of Household as correct status for my filing. :help: I don't mean to be a worry-wart, it comes naturally!

Married filling single? yes you can if your spouse not in the USA.

also you can fill married even your spouse not in the USA, but you need to file ITIN for your wife.

Grats on the raise! kicking.gif Send your husband an updated I-864 to reflect your new current income, as well as a recent pay stub reflecting this, as well as the mentioned job letter.

And for your passport, naturalization certificate, and birth certificate, I wouldn't suggest sending the originals. Make a photocopy of everything and send those. They shouldn't be asked for. Unless it's different in Trinidad...

thanx i Did a new I-864 and everything concerning the AOS already.

I guess I wont send the orignals But id send my expired original passport. I keep feeling like im missing things, I dont wnat then to ask him for a peice of evidence and he cant present it cus i forgot to put it grrrr. oh i just went to walmart and printed a few pictures like 15 and i got a nice shot of out signature photo board for out wedding with all our guess signatures on it

Hey guys,

My visa was approved today, after a 3 hour wait.I was basically last to be interviewed.

oh boi oh boi congratz

When i got married i filed out a new from of what to claim on my taxes and on there it has a legal quote that if you are married but ur spose doesnt have a ss (or something of that sorth) please select single. I when to HRBlock also and they file me head of household and but i think they put married filing seperatly and then they did single cus the pc wont let her do it and she also called the IRS and they wanted her to list me single. it is confusing NVC has accepted my 2011 taxes in my AOS packet as it is.

Hmm. I am not sure which link you are referring too. I am just a bit confused because the medical PDF for Barbados has hepatitis listed as a needed shot. I will look through this thread again for the link you are speaking about. Thank you for your help :)

oh this Vacination thingy makes my head spin so i think im just gonna wait till my hubby goes to the medical and find out, he hasn't had shoot since elementry school, so they gotta shoot him up with all he needs. I would have like to do it to get it outta the way and so it will cost less tho

Just called NVC and we have an interview appointment set for July 18th wooohooo. :dancing::D :D :D:dancing:

This is the correct way to file in your situation. I have filed this way for the past two years I've been married and there has been ZERO issue with immigration or the IRS.

The waiting for my interview date to be scheduled is making me a little bit nuts... I'm still hoping for a July date, but am beginning to think that August is more likely and it's annoying. I am so OVER this process, talking to rude agents and their attempts to make me feel like I'm bugging them by calling to inquire about my case. Just do your JOB, at least try to be somewhat polite as you do it and remember that I am ALLOWED to call and ask about my case. Insert major stream of curse words here.

Thank you for letting me vent. Shutting up now.

 Amen! That was the worst wait EVER, even waiting for NOA2 wasn't as bad. I know everyone says it, but it will go by fast. Before you know it you'll be in Montreal and having your 10 minute conversation with a CO.

That's right. Basically tax payer has a freedom to decide what should be the tax filling status (e.g. turbotax always recommends one option which gives taxpayer a maximum refund) based on their household and financial situation. IRS has given 3 years window to amend your tax return from the date it was filed. From my understanding AOS is to prove that petitioner is financially capable to take responsibility of beneficiary, petitioner does not have any pending IRS tax to pay, and petitioner also agree to take immigration responsibilities. I do not see any requirement in AOS which says you must have filed as married separately/joint in a year you got married to complete AOS process.

I have also filed my individual tax return as head of household (claiming my family relatives) after discussing with few CPAs and they recommended to file as head of household now and claim your spouse after she has entered in USA and also receive her SSN instead of filing as married/joint return with her ITIN number issued by IRS.
