Whatever you decide, you cannot file as single as you are legally married.

So I have a question/concern on this note...

I took my tax stuff to a CPA for my 2011 taxes (my first time, usually I use those HR Block folks), and he filed me as Head of Household, as I provide all support for my daughter from a previous marriage. He said I can't file as married as spouse is not in country, made no US income and has no legal recourse to the US. So my taxes are just me....will this be an issue? I asked the CPA several times, and he even called some IRS CPA hotline and they reconfirmed the Head of Household as correct status for my filing. :help: I don't mean to be a worry-wart, it comes naturally!

Hmm. I am not sure which link you are referring too. I am just a bit confused because the medical PDF for Barbados has hepatitis listed as a needed shot. I will look through this thread again for the link you are speaking about. Thank you for your help :)

Hello everyone, I am filling out my DS-230 form. I need some assistance with a few numbers: 21a and 21b. I have a nine-year old son that lives with his dad, however, I would love for him to be able to visit me in the future. How exactly should I answer both of these questions?

I would also like to receive assistance with number 22. I have several ideas for what my occupations will be but I'm not entirely sure what I should write; in other words, should I be more specific or is it okay for me to give a broad range of jobs I will be working?

I have just obtained my bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering but due to the fact that I am not proficient in the English level (B1 level based off of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) I will not be able to work in my field.

I think you might be looking at a different form because the DS-230 does not have 21a or 21b just "21" and as far as 22 that block is not for "occupations"

When filing MFS (Married Filing Separately) or MFJ (Married Filing Jointly), you can't file electronically as the foreign spouse doesn't have a SSN.

If you want to file MFS, then you just need to write 'NRA' (non-resident alien) in the SSN field and that's it.

If you want to file MFJ, then you also need to include a W7 with document(s) from the foreign spouse.

Whatever you decide, you cannot file as single as you are legally married.

There is no question 21a or b on the DS-230... Are you looking at an older form?

For the occupation question (which isn't question 22 by the way), you can put 'undecided'. NVC really doesn't care as long as you don't put something like 'prostitute'.

In your case 31a and 31b write "NONE" for block 32 write your occupations for the last ten years as complete as you can. I am not sure what you mean by being specific or a "broad range." It's just simply what occupations you held from the present and going back ten years. That's it! as simple as that ... :luv:

Also for block 32b you ask that you're not sure if you should put your son or not because you would like home to come and visit you in the States in the future and here is the catch to your question: Block 32b is ONLY for someone who you previously wrote on blocks 14 and 29 that will eventually "IMMIGRATE" to the US in the future. Since your son will be only visiting and not immigrating then you don't have to put him on 32b block. I hope that clears up some confusion.

When I try to sign-in to NVC payment portal, it gives me this error message:

"You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."

Does anyone else having the same issue?
