Ok so I sent in the optin email last night. So if I understand correctly once the online form portal let's me sign in I should fill out the ds-261 and also should be waiting for my aos to be invoiced so I can pay that through the payment portal. After they accept the ds-261 they should invoice the iv package. I've read the guides and that's what I come up with.

Thanks again in advance

I had a feeling that I should call NVC this evening, even though I didn't expect to get a case number for at least another week. So I called, and talked to a very helpful woman. We got our case number and IIN! She reviewed our contact information, and cautioned me not to try and pay anything or do anything until I receive instructions (but of course I'm not going to take her advice on that).

I'm so excited! Things are finally moving!

So NOA2 May 10, NVC case received June 1, case number June 7. Hopefully this means things are speeding up a bit at the NVC. Best of luck to everyone else waiting!

From Interview Letter: """An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in GUANGZHOU ELECTRONIC on July 2, 2012 at 12:30 pm."""

I think this July 2, 2012 is document intake date. Actual interview occurs on July 3, 2012. Am I reading correctly? Please advise.

OMG - the letter arrived.

July 2nd is document intake day.

July 3rd is the actual interview day.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

still waiting for our I 864 confirmation or whatever it is called ...phewwwwhh...i wonder how long will it take more, cuz it's been 8 days :unsure: c'mon NVC!!! :bonk:

Have you been calling NVC every single day to see if there's any updates on your case? Cause NVC doesn't send you any confirmation that they accepted your I-864.

[...] Just called DOS and got interview date July 18th @ 8AM. [...]

Calling NVC also to confirm.

Grats! kicking.gif

Happy Thursday everyone :goofy:

Has anyone ever heard of not having enough slots open for appointments? The operator at DOS explained to me that because of the negative relations between US and Cuba the Embassy in Havana is only staffed with 3 or 4 agents. If they gave us an appointment for September or October even though that date seems so far off, at least we would have something to look forward to. The way NVC has left things open leaves me feeling very anxious. Is waiting the only option we have, or does anyone know if there anything I can do?

NVC typically only schedules interviews 1-3 months ahead of time. They will not schedule interviews for September yet. Not having enough slots is due to backlogs (many cases, not enough agents) and this happens in quite a few places, notably Ghana where, last time I checked, it takes a year from case complete to get an interview date. So, unfortunately, yes, waiting is the only option you have unless you have a reason to expedite (and wanting to know your interview date is not a valid reason :P )

@ Saylin: By the time we are ready for "ROC" you will have already gone through the process and will be even more "expert" LOL! :P ... Hope you're still around by then

Yup, I'm eligible to apply this February, so I'll know all about it shortly! Plus, I'm gonna start reading up on it within a few months so I'm prepared :) And I'll still be around when it's your turn, so no worries ;)

We FINALLY got our Case Number at NVC! With our NOA2 from May 8th, I was getting antsy! Thanks to Roberto for making my day!

Should we send the DS3032 email right away (we have it ready as a draft alrady haha) or should we wait for the email the NVC operator told me they will send...

Grats on getting your case number!

And yes, send that DS-3032 email pronto!

Woooo Hoooo !!! Finally ! Interview date July 12 in Montreal.

Now to figure out how to get the medical done by next Friday when I move out of my place in Toronto.

Grats! kicking.gif

Call Dr Seidens up asap and schedule an appointment.

Interview aassssssssssssiiiiiiiiigggggggggnneeed July 16th,2012 on my Bday [...]

Grats! kicking.gif

GuangZhaou EP: got P4/Interview Letter, interview date: July 2, 2012, 12:30PM for both wife and son! Overall, the whole process is wonderful and smooth with this VJ, and Darnell and Saylin's assistance!!! Thanks a lot to all friends here!

One question: document intake occurs one day before interview date?

Grats! kicking.gif

Yes, it's document intake the one day, and then the actual interview the very next day.

Yes, once you can sign into the online forms portal, complete the DS-261 pronto. Meanwhile, your AOS should be invoiced within the next few days so keep an eye out on the payment portal. And yes, once the DS-261 is accepted, then the IV bill will be invoiced a few days afterwards. Once the bills are showing as PAID, you can send the respective package.

I had a feeling that I should call NVC this evening, even though I didn't expect to get a case number for at least another week. So I called, and talked to a very helpful woman. Grats on getting your case number! Just under 4 weeks.

hey guys... just a quick question. we only receive emails for the interview package now? no more interview packaged in the ACTUAL mail??

The interview letter is the LAST piece of correspondence you receive.

And if you gave over your email addresses, you receive NOTHING by snail mail.

It varies. Some get it within 3 days, others it can take a few weeks. It's really hard to estimate how fast Montreal will get the visa out by DHL/Loomis.

Is this the Loomis website that we should be using? It didn't seem all that secure, and the one off of the MTL specific PDF from immigrantvisas.state.gov wouldn't load. Just want to make sure before we go ahead and enter our info. :)
