I'm assembling the docs for my packet... this thread made me question myself. I was going to submit a photocopy of my multi-page divorce decree. Is that acceptable? Or do I need to order a certified divorce certificate? They're apparently different things, at least here in Idaho. I'm so confused now.

Although it varies, typically a certified copy of a divorce decree covers the vital statistics without other statements of fact, property settlement, accusations and custody arrangements. What they'll be looking for at the service center and the Consulate are official signatures and seals along with the vital statistics, like names and date of final decree or "decree absolute" as termed in some States.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I submitted a multi-page copy of my Divorce Decree. It's acceptable.... You won't have any problems. :thumbs:
